A few years ago...

"I'm going to fucking throttle her, El."

"Ki-"

"I'm fucking serious. She's out. I'm not living with her. I don't care who her goddamn father is but she's gone too far. I'll sue her! I'll sue!"

"It's been a week."

"I don't care!" Kiara snapped, pacing the rug in their living room, eyes fixated on the zig-zag pattern, "She called the fucking cops on me!"

Elvis stifled a laugh, "She thought you were...in trouble."

"It's not my fault Miss Prude doesn't know what good sex sounds like!"

Elvis grimaced, "First of all, ew. Second of all, you have to admit it was a bit funny. She was just looking out for you! In her own...misguided way."

"Why are you taking her side?" Kiara halted, fixing Elvis with a glare, "Did she buy you?"

"I can't be bought! I'm just tired of changing roommates and she's fun and watches Gilmore Girls with me unlike you even though you've promised me twenty times."

"So that's it? You get a hag and suddenly you're her bestie over mine?"

Elvis raised an eyebrow, "Are you going to have an adult conversation or are you going to be a brat?"

"I can't fucking believe you," Kiara seethed, turning on her heel, "I'm going to my room."

"Brat it is then." Elvis muttered, rolling his eyes and flopping down onto the couch, grabbing the remote and flicking it on.

He stared at the TV, not taking in what was on the screen until he felt the couch dip beside him, making him jolt.

"She's pretty mad, huh?"

He glanced over at Violet who looked sheepish.

"Yes." He admitted, "She wants you to move out."

"You can't do that!" She exclaimed angrily, "We have a contract!"

"Which doesn't say anything about us kicking you out."

Violet shrank back, "That's true. So...I have to go?"

"No."

"No?"

"I like you." He shrugged, "For some reason. And I think Kiara will too once you calm your shit and act like a normal person."

"This is my normal."

"It's not. It's what you've been raised to think is normal. Give yourself some time. You'll come around."

Violet sank back into the couch and nodded determinedly, "Okay. Normal. Should I order pizza? That's normal...right?"

"Have you ever had pizza before?"

"Of course I have!"

"From a delivery place?"

"No...but I can try!"

Elvis smiled at her enthusiasm and nodded, handing her the phone, "But you're paying."

Once it arrived they laid it on the coffee table and Elvis smirked as he heard Kiara's bedroom door creak open. He knew the smell would entice her from her hovel. She shuffled into the room and flopped onto the couch on my free side, staying silent.

"Violet got us all pizza." Elvis began, watching her from his peripheral vision.

Kiara stayed silent.

"I got you Hawaiian. You like that right?" Violet said carefully, "I think you said it last week."

"You remembered?" Kiara asked, wide-eyed.

Violet nodded eagerly, beaming at the other girl who was staring at her with a bewildered expression. She grabbed the box off of the table and handed it to Kiara. Kiara took it carefully and laid it on the arm of the couch before sighing.

"Thank you, Violet."

And the trio sat, eating in comfortable silence as an episode of Gilmore Girls played in the background.
