~ the way it turned out to be ~

Natalia woke up with a sudden gasp. She could feel his presence. Feel the remnants of his touch on her bare skin. But he was not there. He was never there.

She chuckled to herself. She will never catch a break. She can never let him go. And because of that, she will lose everyone. She lay on her bed, tears brimming her eyes. I'm so pathetic. What am I doing? An uneasy feeling washed through her stomach, like live roaches were squirming around her insides making her feel uncomfortable. All she could do was turn to her side and curl into a ball. Covering herself in a blanket from head to toe. After all, if she can't see anything, there's nothing there.

The entire ship was abuzz. As they set sail to their next island, dragged across the seas by a mighty dragon, the crew and the royals were parted by an invisible barrier. Edmund sat on the side of the ship, his feet dangling over the ledge. His gaze focused on the ripples made in the water. The never-ending waves that went against the direction of the ship. Caspian's ship. The Dawn Treader. He could feel the crew - stealing glances at him, whispering about him, questioning him. His fingernails dug into his palm.

How could Caspian- No. How could the King let a with onto his ship? He should have let her drown. He should have been more wary.  He should have protected his citizens, not bring a monster onto the ship.

A monster. That's what she is. An imposter, putting a spell on herself to look like his love. But she isn't.

Not my sweet Natalia.

That was the only explanation. That should have been the only explanation.

Now that the truth was out, Caspian was forced to tell him everything.

Caspian gently shut the door of her room after setting her down. Her unconscious form frowning in her sleep as she adjusted to her bed. He let out a silent sigh before turning away from the room, coming face to face with a confused and angry King.

"What?" He asked under the pressuring glare of the King. "Stop looking at me like that." His own face was monotonous, unsure of how to react.

Lucy had gone back to her chambers, slowly processing everything that just happened.

"Cut the crap. How long."

Caspian raised a brow. "What?"

"How long have you known?" Edmund asked through gritted teeth. With another sigh, he was ushered to another, more private sector of the ship.

They sat down on a couple of rum-filled barrels. "I've known since the war." Fire sparked in Edmund's eyes.

"You didn't tell me? Didn't tell us? After all that we've been through together?" His questions shot one after another, like a machine gun. "How could you trust her knowing who she is? What she is."

Caspian narrowed his eyes at Edmund. "She is my friend. She is our friend. You've been through as many things with her as you have with me."

"She's a witch."
