Krista.

I placed a loose strand behind my ear. The lit screen of my computer was the lighting of the room. My grandma looked over my shoulder. "Did you find anything yet Kristina?" She asked me. I shook my head. Grandma started to pace. My eyes bore into the screen. I wiped my eyes, trying to ease its burning. I let out a deep breath.

I typed in: Doppelgänger curses. Among the search results, Doppelgänger/Hybrid Curse. My eyes went wide open and alert. I made a noise and signaled Grandma to come closer as I clicked the link. "I think this is it Grandma. " The page had detailed and descriptive information about the Doppelgänger/Hybrid Curse. The symptoms match Phoebe. I was shocked when I saw that if not healed, doppelgänger will die in 3 months. I dropped my laptop. The hotness of the laptop burned my lap.

Grandma noticed something else. "Look. "She points to something I must've missed. It was a section marked: CURE. I clicked on the link. It took me to the CURE section. It read:

"in ordine ad curandum doppelgänger, III generationes fortis veneficas oportet abrogare maledictio vel doppelgänger morietur. Si doppelgänger moritur, Hybrid genus caducus. Sic est lamia genus"

What the hell?! "It's in Latin. " I squinted at the bright screen. " I think. If I knew we'd be doing this, I would've took Latin instead of Italian. " Grandma seemed to be focusing on the screen. "What is it Grams?" I asked her.

"in order to cure the doppelgänger, 3 generations of strong witches must undo the curse or the doppelgänger will die. If the doppelgänger dies, the hybrid race is doomed. So is the vampire race." Grandma translated. I didn't know she spoke Latin. Whoa.

I had to think about what to say. It was kind of hard to take in that your friend could die. A silence fell. "So if we don't cure Phoebe-" I started.

"She'll die along with the vampires and hybrids. " Grandma finished. I scanned the page, looking for an alternate solution.

"Where are we going to find some witches-Oh yeah." I stopped myself remembering that we are in fact witches. "But we need 1 more generation. If only my mom was around. " I looked down solemnly. Grandma embraced me in a hug.

"There is an alternate solution, but you'd never consider it..." Grandma trailed off. My eyebrows quirked up. I looked up at my grandma. He wise ness was evident through her wrinkles. (If that makes any sense. )

"What is it Grams?" I asked her, desperate for an alternative. She shook her head. "Tell me. "

"Kill the doppelgänger. " I gasped and widened my eyes. Is she serious? She nodded.

"I can't do that! Phoebe is my best friend! It would be heartless to just kill her!" I yelled at Grandma. "Why did you even mention that?"

Grandma shrugged. "You asked me to. " She's right. I did ask her. I sunk into the chair. "Maybe we can look for your mom. "

I snorted. "She hasn't been in my life since I was seven. What makes you think she'll be easy to find? Dad already tired. He hired a private investigator and everything. " Grandma seemed to be thinking.

"What is the private investigator's number?" I tried to think.

"Her number is: 219-555-0128. I remembered because Dad always called her. That was 3 years ago. He gave up a year ago. 'Maybe she didn't want to be found.' He said. "

Grandma grabbed the house phone and dialed the number. She started talking to the lady. "Are you sure?" She looked confused. "Never? Timonthy McLoughton? He's never talked to you about.. Ok. Thank you. Well can you help? Her names Roseanne Juliet Fredrick-McLoughton. Thank you so much. Bye." Grandma looked at me. "She said she'll try, your dad didn't call her for her skills. "

"What do you mean?"

"He was seeing the lady at the time. Pretending that he was finding your mom was a great excuse. " My eyes filled with tears. I felt betrayed. "But, she said she'll do her best. And she apologized. "

My clock chimed signaling it was 12:00 AM. I sighed. 2 months and 29 days left.

I've decided that I'm not ready to end TVDODE!!! I want the REAL ending to be unexpected and shocking. So yeah, the check mark will disappear in like 30 seconds.
