We did it.  We got married, with the rings, the wedding cake, the wedding dance (surprised Jane with that as I chose our song, Bobcaygeon) and now we were on our way to Vermont to stay with a man who apparently was a legend in the computer field.  Jane told me about him on the helicopter flight there, as best she could during the loud 90-minute flight, but she finally gave up when it was evident we were in a losing battle against the loud rotors.

She looked so beautiful at the wedding, in a blue dress that matched my tie.  Now, as she held my hand in the helicopter, she looked just as gorgeous, as a sense of anticipation was on her face.  Even though it was just going to be a few days in a Vermont cabin it was still time with her, time we both wanted and needed.

When we finally landed at a small private airport there was an older model Range Rover waiting for us.  It looked pretty well used but so did the man and woman who got out.  Both of them appeared to be in their late 60s or early 70s but still quite fit as they smiled at us while waiting beside the vehicle.  I helped Jane out and reached inside the helicopter for our bags.  We both bent over while we got out from under the still turning rotors.  As soon as we arrived at the vehicle the helicopter lifted up and we all watched it ascend into the sky before returning in the direction of New York.

"Mr. and Mrs. Barnes," said the man, with an English accent.  "Edwin Jarvis.  This is my wife Ana."

"Bucky and Jane, please," I replied, shaking their hands.  "Thank you for taking us in."

"Well, it's my pleasure," he said.  "The back is open if you want to drop your bags there.  Mrs...Jane, how is working for Anthony?"

"He's a wonderful boss," she replied.  "He's been so supportive through all of this trouble that seems to surround us.  We wouldn't have been able to get married without his and Happy's help."

"I'm glad to hear it," he said, opening the passenger door for his wife as I opened the back door for Jane.  "I still have a high clearance level and am aware of the software your ex-husband created from the code you wrote and what he attempted to do after.  What terrible things to do to someone you took a vow to love and cherish.  From what Mr. Hogan told me your new husband is a much better man."

I smiled.  The man might be old, but he obviously already had strong feelings of protection for Jane.  As he drove us to his property, we were surprised to see the leaves were already changing colour and I brought it up.

"Being in a more northerly and mountainous area the seasons change sooner here," said Ana.  "There is already a crispness to the air in the evening so make sure you stoke the fire in your stove as it will keep the cabin warm overnight."  She looked fondly at her husband.  "We built it ourselves when we were first married as Edwin wanted a country place to retreat from the stresses of his job.  Many happy evenings were spent in that cabin.  I'm sure most of our children were conceived there."
