"Let's do this one last time"

Hi, my name is Kiara Kinleigh, and for the last 2 and a half years, I have been the one and only spider-woman. When I am not busy fighting crime or saving the world, I work at a nearby retirement home taking care of the residents there. I also like to volunteer at the animal shelter on my block, it brings me peace knowing at least someone is taking care of them.

I no longer attend high school, seeing as I graduated about 7 months ago and am now enrolled in college courses online. Sometimes I do wish I decided to go to college in Washington like I hoped but I couldn't just leave New York. Being spider-woman was too important to me.

I also am in a band, playing as their bassist and back vocalist. Other than that, there isn't much more to say about me. Being spider-woman has kept me busier than I could ever image, but lately it has been slow. To slow in fact, it's been making me anxious like crazy, but I'm sure it's nothing.

------

Boy could Kiara be more wrong than right now. As she stood atop one of the many skyscrapers in New York, facing a man with four different octopus looking arms, she wondered why she always ended up jinxing herself.

She pushed those thoughts aside however, staring confused at the figure in front of her. It was Doc Ock, but not her Doc Ock. This one was more mechanical, and he was all black and white? If that was even possible. Maybe she needed more sleep, she could just imagine it.

As she was busy with her own thoughts, this so-called Doc Ock was getting irritated. He wouldn't stop asking, "Where am I." It was starting to piss Kiara off as she kept replying with the same answer. "Dude, you're in Brooklyn. How many more times do you want me to say that." She grumbled, dodging a piece of metal he threw at her.

"No, where am I?" He asked again. "Why does everything look so... Different? It's all wrong." He could not have confused her more even if he tried. He threw more things at her, one after another. "You're in Brooklyn New York man, what more do you want me to say?" she asked, wincing as one of the things he threw scraped her arm.

He grew more irritated the more she answered, lunging after her. He grabbed her with two of his mechanical arms, beginning to cut off her air flow. She could not breathe; he was choking her. As Kiara struggled to break loose, he slammed her into the cement underneath her. She groaned in pain, starting to see black dots form in her vision.

Her vision started going black and she started losing strength. Just as she thought she couldn't do anything more she felt the hand around her neck loosened and the air started flowing again through her lungs. She coughed miserably, trying to sit up when she heard an unfamiliar voice. "Don't try to get up dear, you will just hurt yourself more. Just relax, we will take it from here,"

Kiara didn't know this voice, but something told her to trust it. She was just too tired, and oxygen deprived to do any different but before she knew it, she had passed out.

------

When Kiara opened her eyes, she noticed a very unfamiliar room. She heard monitors beeping and as she went to sit up, she felt a sharp pain in her neck. She groaned, laying back down as she went to feel her neck, but instead felt a brace around her neck. "Don't try and sit up quite yet dear, your body is probably still too weak to handle that." She heard a voice say. It was the one who spoke to her before she passed out.
"Where am I? And can you please get this thing off me?" she asked, trying to take the neck brace off herself. She ignored what the voice had told her, forcing her body upright with a wince. Once she was upright, she looked around before her eyes settled on the figure Infront of her. "I can tell you don't listen very well, do you?" The woman standing in front of her asked.

"Not when strangers tell me to do something, no." She mumbled as she saw a doctor walking over. The woman standing in front of told the doctor to take the brace off and he complied, and the second it was off Kiara's hand shot up to feel her neck. The doctor then checked her vitals before unhooking her from the medical equipment. She winced when her hand touched her neck. It must have been bruised pretty badly. She felt something soft land in her lap and when she looked down, she saw a pair of clothes. "Get dressed and meet me outside, I will explain everything." Kiara nodded, grabbing the clothes and walking to what she assumed was the bathroom. She was correct.

Once Kiara was dressed, she glanced in the mirror. "Holy shit..." She mumbled to herself, fingers caressing her purple neck. She decided to worry about that later, walking out of the bathroom and toward the newly familiar woman. "Alright, first things first, my name is Jessica Drew, and I am one of the leaders of the Spider Society." The woman in from of her said. "The Spider Society? As in like..." She trailed off as Jess started walking away. "I'll just show you, come on." Jess said as she walked out of the medical room with Kiara on her heels. As the stepped through the door, Kiara was met with the sight of at least a hundred different variations of spider-men and woman. "What the hell." she muttered, looking around in amazement. "Yeah yeah, come on kid. Miguel wants to talk with you." Jess said before motioning for Kiara to follow her.

"Who's Miguel? Is he your boss?" Kiara asked, following Jess to wherever they were going. "No, He is more like my co-worker, but he is everyone else's boss. He founded the entire Spider Society, if it wasn't for him none of this would have happened." Jess said before suddenly stopping. Kiara hadn't even realized they had gotten to where they were going.

As she glanced around, she noticed a large man standing atop a platform that was raised in the air. It slowly started to float down. Really slowly actually. As Kiara waited for the platform to descend, she glanced around the room before she noticed a group of teenagers sitting in a corner. They all appeared to be talking before they glanced over at her. She quickly looked away, noticing that the platform had finally reached the ground.

"Kiara Kinleigh." The man said before turning around to face her. "How's your neck?" He asked, glancing down at it. "It's just fine." she said, looking at him wearily. How did he know her name? Before she could think more, she noticed something heading in her direction. She quickly caught it, looking at the odd object. It was a watch. "Did you need to know the time or something?" she asked the man called Miguel, quirking an eyebrow at him. The teenagers snickered quietly.

"Thats funny. No, it's for you to keep. Congrats, you have been invited to join us in the spider society." His monotoned voice said, keeping a straight face the entire time. "Uh yeah, no thanks buddy, I got enough crap to deal with at home. Speaking of that, when can I go home?" She asked, looking up at him. She just wanted to crawl in bed and sleep her pain off. "Oh, I wasn't asking, you're going to join. We need your help." He said, walking toward her before taking the watch out of her hand. He grabbed her wrist, placing the watch on it before speaking again. "Those three idiots in the corner will show you around and explain everything, then you can go home. Now all of you, get out. I need to talk to Jess." he said, walking back to his platform with Jess.

The group of teenagers approached Kiara, smiling at her. The girl spoke up first, "Don't mind Miguel, he is always like that. Anyway, my name is Gwen Stacy, this is Hobie Brown." She said, motioning to the man on her left. "Hi" was all he said with a head nod, leaning on the wall next to him. "And this is Pavitr Prabhakar" She motioned to the guy on her right. "Hello, it is so good to meet you!" he said excitedly, grabbing her hand to shake it. "It's good to meet you too?" She said awkwardly, smiling a bit. "My name is Kiara Kinleigh if you didn't already know."

"Well, it's good to meet you Kiara, let us show you around.
