"Everywhere I go, I see his face.."

——————

One of Kiara's cannon events was losing her brother. He was her only sibling, which made it harder. He was caught up in drugs and crime, so Kiara tried to distance herself when she was bitten by the spider. She didn't want to go fight her brother.

One night, when she was on patrol, she noticed a disturbance in a nearby alleyway. When she got closer, she heard a gunshot, and when she arrived, her brother was surrounded by a pool of blood.

"No, no no no no no." Kiara cried, ripping her mask off. "Kaden, stay with me." She sobbed out, putting pressure on his wound. "Kiara.." He mumbled, grabbing her hand. She looked him in the eyes. "You need to understand, with your gift, your great power..." He coughed, blood coming out as well. "Comes with responsibility." He nodded.

Kiara shook her head, grasping onto him harder. "Kaden, please." She pleaded. "I love you, Kiara.." Was the last thing he said to her. It was the hardest thing she had ever gone through.

Kiara shook her head at the memory, looking at the clock. She had been waiting for Hobie for almost 2 hours, where was he? Almost on cue, he crawled through the window, landing on his feet and ripping his mask off. "Oh, hi love. Sorry if I kept you waiting." He told the girl that sat in front of him.

"You look knackered." He told her, producing a nod from her. "I am, I had a long day." She told him, resting her head on his shoulder once he sat down. "You can crash here if you want?" He offered, glancing at the younger girl.

"Maybe, I dunno.." She trailed off, rubbing her eyes. "Well, why wouldn't ya?" He asked simply, turning the TV on. She just shrugged, depating on whether or not she should.

"Yeah, I will." She told him, thinking a bit. She wanted to bring up what happened about a week ago. She was just nervous. What if he didn't mean to and her bringing it up would make him stop talking to her or something? She didn't want to risk it.

"What's on your mind?" He asked, glancing over. She seemed off today, and he wanted to know why she seemed upset. "Just work is getting really annoying, and I have been thinking about my brother lately." She told him, rubbing a sore spot on her neck. It wasn't a complete lie.

"Here, come sit in front of me." He pointed to the spot in between his thighs. She smiled faintly before getting up and moving, letting out a small breath as he played with her hair before tying it up. He placed his hands on the back of her neck, gently digging his thumbs into the skin.

Kiara let out a groan, leaning back into his touch. She closed her eyes, letting him work out the knots in her neck. He moved to her stiff shoulders, causing her to wince a bit. "Sorry, love." He mumbled, kissing the back of her head.

She didn't reply, getting lost in the relaxation. As His hands moved skillfully over her neck and shoulders, Kiara began to think more. She found herself beginning to get upset as she thought about everything going on. Not knowing what was going on between her and Hobie had her stressed out. Along with her job and everything else.

When she came back to reality, she noticed that Hobie had stopped massaging her neck and instead was now untying her hair. Once he did, he ran his fingers through it, beginning to scratch her scalp.

Kiara leaned back into Hobie, resting her head against his thighs as he worked his magic. "God Hobie, I love you. Thank you so much." She mumbled to him, opening her eyes to look up at him. "You're welcome, Kie. I would do anything for you."

He told her, leaning down to place a gentle kiss on her lips. Kiara immediately melted into the kiss, frowning slightly as he pulled away. "Hobie, what are we?" She asked, turning around to face him completely.

He looked down at her, shrugging. "Do we have to label it?" He asked her. She sighed, placing her face in her hands. "No, of course we don't, but I don't want to just play around with you if it's not going to be serious. I don't think my heart can handle that Hobie." Kiara admitted to him.

"I understand that, but it's not going to be a one-time thing, Kiara. I can promise that." He said, rubbing her shoulders reassuringly. She simply nodded, resting her head in his lap. She was exhausted.

He continued to play with her hair and scratch her scalp. Soon, he noticed that she had fallen asleep. He smiled, picking her up and carrying her into his bedroom. He set her down on the bed, changing out of his suit and laying next to her.

It didn't take him very long to fall asleep with her, arms wrapped around her waist. He could get used to this.
