Part 7: Astonishments

 Akash and I followed them to the Gryffindor table, there was that boy I had seen bloody yesterday.

There bustling all around us, kids running to eat after their first day of school in a long time, we had classes right after lunch but I didn't feel the same enthusiasm as them. I spotted a milkshake and quickly grabbed it to get something in my stomach.

As we came into their view, Fred and George rushed forward, leaping into action.

(for the sake of the author's sanity, the dialogue of the twins would be together when they speak together)

"Guess who we have brought." The three heads turned to look at us 2 tiny students. The redhead was still chewing the bushy-haired had given up on her book since she decided that no one is going to let her read, and the messy-haired was just looking at us with curiosity in his eyes.

"This young lady has baffled us."

I introduce myself " I am Maya Chowdhury of Ravenclaw, nice to meet you" with a slight lift of my skirt, like we formally did in Asgard. 

" I am Akash Singh of Ravenclaw, btw," Akash said feeling left out.

" Oh my, I am Hermoine Granger " 

" Ron Weasely here"

I couldn't help but laugh this time "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAASSSSSSSSSEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLYYYYY" I said with all my teeth on display and giggled, Akash cracked beside me too.

On the side, Fred bent to reach Hermoie's ear, " Aren't they cute?" "They are adorable" they whispered.

Ron was blushing so hard that his cheeks matched his hair, it must have offended him, so I quickly tried to correct myself.

" I am so sorry Mr Ron, your surname was just too funny," I apologized. 

 " No no it's fine it's fine" He sputtered, still embarrassed. " And I think you know who I am?"

" I don't know, should I? Do you know him, Akash?" "No, I don't" 

" Therefore we don't know who you are Mr Bloody Nose" There was an 'aww' from Fred, George and Hermione, did it come out more childish than I intended?

A baffled expression had appeared on his face but it softened to a smile. 

" I guess you saw yesterday's incident and I am Harry, Harry Potter."

I sat down at the table and when I did, a plate of food appeared in front of me, it didn't have the things on the table, there was rice, some kind of chicken gravy and even fried potatoes. I grabbed a fork and tasted the chicken and oh the Gods. This was Harls.

'Harls, did you do this?'

'yes princess'

' can you get a plate for Akash too? Please?' He was eyeing the food too. 

'of course, but remember we are supposed to hide your secret. '

'okay'

And there was a plate full of the same things in front of him.

He looked at me surprised, I just smiled at him pressing a finger to my lips, it's secret, he grinned back and we dug in.

We were sitting in charms after lunch. 

Suddenly a tiny man came in, I remember seeing him during the welcoming feast. He introduces himself and asks us to do this charm.

"Wingardium Leviosa, see? This is the levitation charm, most of you will be able to perform it."

He showed it 3 times before making us do it ourselves. I was glad to finally perform some magic but aren't wizards usually able to do this without such silly words?

"Wingardium Leviosa" Why isn't this feather rising? "Wingardium Leviosa" What the heck?

"Why can't I just lift it normally?"

" We are supposed to do it by magic you know? That's the whole point." Akash grumble beside me, he was also having a few difficulties.

"nono, just like " I made the feather levitate up to eye level with my hands "This?"

"What the- how are you doing that?" He sounded flabbergasted, is it really not normal?

" Miss Maya, you may be able to do this without a wand but these starting spells are the basic that will allow you to use your wand properly, you may not need it but you will get familiar with your wand this way." The Professor was suddenly beside me, he didn't sound mad though.

" Here, I will show you again, watch and listen carefully" He performed the charm again.

Akash tried it beside me, carefully mimicking the professor, and to his joy, it worked! and this time I could do it too. 

"Excellent, 5 points to Ravenclaw then! " 

After the class ended, Akash pulled me back for a moment, "How did you do that?" 

" Do what?" "You made the feather float without any spell, I thought you were a muggle-born?"

" do you mean this? " I made all the feathers in the classroom float up to meet each other, forming wings. They flopped and moved in the memory of the one who was once living " I have been able to do it since forever, and about my heritage, it's a bit complicated. " 

Akash was gauking at me. I was getting worried that I might have surprised him a bit too much but then he sighed. 

" You know what? At this point, I won't question it anymore. " He lifted his arms up in frustration and started walking towards the class. 

" Are you gonna come or what? I really want to see more of your weird magic. "

We were the first to arrive at the transfiguration classroom because of my 'weird but convenient ' ways as Akash likes to put it. There were only a few students sitting in the classroom, mostly Griffindor. There was also a cat sitting at the table. But as we passed by it, I had to do a double take, why did it sound so.......human? Animals aren't usually like this, but humans had a weird loudness of thoughts to them and although I didn't listen to those, they were this noisy like a bustling city. But as I have come to discover, wizards and witches are quieter, but still, there were whispers of chaos going around their minds. 

She had that kind of sound to her thoughts. Wait, did this cat just raise an eyebrow at me?

And then suddenly she was human, she was the strict-looking lady and this time even more teacher-looking. 

" Looks like you have discovered me Miss Maya, good, I had to have a talk with you anyway. " what did I do now? Is this about the pink lady?

" Mr. Singh please go to your seat. " She waited till he went far enough. The Headmaster informed me that you were quite skilled at elemental transfiguration. Is that so?" 

" What are you talking about professor? " So this isn't about the pink lady...............?

" He tells me that you changed paper into metal while it still looked like paper."

" I did. Yes. Why? am I not to do that?" " Oh nono we are actually quite surprised, it is not common for young witches and wizards such as yourself to do such advanced magic"

I looked at her with a puzzled expression " I could do that forever, I thought you guys could do that normally."  

" No, that's not so. That's why the headmaster wishes to have a word with you today in the evening "

Okay, I guess. No use hiding it anymore. Goodness, I didn't expect them to be so weak!
