Chapter 14:Legs are ice!

After a packed lunch, Maya decided eating so much was a bad decision.

They were to fly.

On broomsticks.

Maya thought 'holding a sword for the first time was less ridiculous than this'.

"The first thing we have to do is get your broom off the ground. Once you're in position," the professor demonstrated " confidently say "UP!" directing your attention to the broom"

"Brooms are very responsive. We're going to stand here and hold the brooms for a solid minute. When I blow my whistle, I want you to kick off from the ground, aiming for just a few feet in the air. You may try to jump but be careful to stop yourself in mid-air otherwise, you will be flying off. 

Be ready, I will blow the whistle"

Everybody got in their positions and soon there was a roar or "up".

After the complex manoeuvring, the blooming difficulties of certain students, and Maya's absolute discomfort at being forced to sit on a stick, it was finally up.

"I mean seriously? Why do I have to use those sticks?"

" You do realize that Zack is glaring at you right now because you literally had the least difficulty doing this, right? "

" Whatever, I just want to go to my room right now, "

Having nothing to do made her skin boil. Literally.

It was not much about being bored, it was about the release of magic.

So naturally she had exploded the various doors of the courtroom and then used one of the energy crystals.

This time she noticed that she was standing on her own feet.

How? Because they were painful right now. Why? because some of the seniors went to Hogsmeade and brought back treats of the younger years. It was a planned mission of Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and the last-minute addition of Slytherin.

And every common room had a kids-friendly party.

After a lot of dancing and standing when Maya finally sat down, she couldn't move her legs anymore. 

"Tired?" A dreamy voice said from beside her.

" Yeah," Maya stared at the blonde-haired girl with funny accessories " my feet hurt. Who are you?" 

" I am Luna" Akash landed beside Maya and both of them crisscrossed their legs on the couch and spent their time talking to Luna and Parvati till they fell asleep.

By the end of the night, Luna had Maya's feet on her lap while Akash was almost completely on Parvati's lap and Maya was curled up clinging to him, both asleep.

Maya was the first to wake up and the first thing she realized was that she couldn't feel her legs. 

Looking around she found her 3 companions of last night.

This was not the first time this had happened.

It was the first time Maya had come to Asgard. As scared as she was, her supposed father had been king enough to stay the night with her. But in the morning he woke up to crying and sobs.

" what's wrong darling?" Loki had been so anxious. It was not even one day and she was already crying for the second time. He had hoped to make her happy.

"I.......I can't feel my legs" Touching her feet Loki found them to be cold as ice and panicked. 

He quickly wanted to call for the healers but thought better of it and called for his mother.

Frigga was quick to arrive to assess the situation and calm down her distressed son.

"What's the problem child?" Frigga crouched down. Just yesterday she had healed her new granddaughter's scratches.

" I can't feel my legs, can't even move them," Maya said quietly.

"Mother, her feet are cold as snow"

" Then let's warm them up okay?"

She then asked a servant to bring some normal and some warm water and cloth and then she washed her legs till they became normal temperature and the movement returned. From then on her room's temperature was maintained and each morning Frigga would come over and check the temperature of her legs and then put an ointment that kept her legs warm or another one that cooled them down if needed. The second one was needed during training days.

As it turns out if she didn't move her legs much or the temperature dropped too much while she slapped, her legs and sometimes fingertips can freeze up. Probably because of her half-Jotun heritage.

Now she had to manage to get her feet warmed so she could apply the ointment.

But the problem was how. She had to make sure to not wake anyone up. 

She noticed Akash stir in his sleep as he woke up.

" what's wrong? why do you look like you just saw a ghost? "

" My legs froze up I have to go to my room" She looked at the sprawled bodies and panicked. It was difficult to maintain her way when she couldn't move her legs. 

"How the-  you know what? How can I help?" He guided her floating self (which had almost knocked him over due to shock) to her dorm and then helped her inside the bathroom and turned on the tap in the bathtub as per her instructions. 

After she had lowered herself down to the water and asked the temperature to be raised slowly to warm, Akash spoke up, "Now tell me what was this about"

" Basically, my dad is not a human"

" Are you an alien?"

" Sort of, have you heard of Norse mythology?" Akash nodded but stated it was partial knowledge "So basically, it is not myth, everything, I mean most of it, is real.

" My father is a Jotun, who are like creatures made of ice. So my mother is a human, my body doesn't take well to temperature fluctuations I guess."

"Then is your father someone notable?" Akash went over the few characters, and people, that he knew of.

"He is Loki...Odinson" and his jaw dropped for the 100th time since meeting her, "So you are like actually royalty? Like not the supposed one of Hogwarts but like the child of a God?"

He paused and thought over his words, " Are you a goddess?"
