It's been a week since Sarah and Jeremy met. Neither of them contacted the other. Sarah couldn't stop thinking about what Jeremy said. She tried to convince herself that it was just a prank and nothing more but somewhere deep in her heart, she was wishing for it to be something more than a prank.

No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't stop thinking about Jeremy. She couldn't figure out why her mind can't focus on anything else.
"What the hell is wrong with me?" "Why can't I stop thinking about him?"

Her thoughts are distracted by the buzzing of her phone, she looks at the texts Jeremy just sent to her.

"Jeremy: Where are you?"
"Sarah: Home. Why?"
"Jeremy: Meet me in 30 minutes at the usual place."
"Sarah: Ok."

Sarah puts her phone down and her heart starts to beat faster. She quickly gets up and heads toward her wardrobe. She takes out some of her clothes which she hasn't worn ever since she bought them. She tries each one of them and then finally decides to wear a light pink floral maxi. She puts on very little makeup, grabs her bag, and heads out.

After 10 minutes of driving, she reaches the cafe they usually meet at. It's one of the favorite places of Jeremy. When Sarah heads inside, Jeremy is already sitting at a table, waiting for Sarah. When his eyes meet Sarah's, she feels something she has never felt before. She starts heading toward Jeremy.

"Sorry for being late. There was more traffic than usual." Sarah says while gasping for air.
"It's ok Sarah it's not a big deal. I can wait for you way longer than this." Jeremy replies.
His reply makes her blush a little bit and she smiles away.
"Why did you ask to meet me so urgently?" Sarah asks with curiosity.
"Because I wanted to talk about last week." He replies.
Sarah's heart starts beating faster again and she asks him, "What about last week?"
"You remember how I proposed to you and how we didn't talk after that for a week," he replies.
"Yep, but you said it was just a joke right?" she asks while laughing.
"Well, it wasn't a joke Sarah," he replies while looking away.

Her laughter suddenly fades away and her heart starts beating even faster now. She was hoping for it not to be a joke.

"What do you mean?" she asks.
"I wasn't joking about it that day. I like you a lot and I want to love you for the rest of your life. I want to fix your broken heart." he replies with hope in his voice.

His response makes her want to hug him and say yes but she suddenly remembers the promise she made to herself, "No matter what, I will never allow my heart to love anyone again."

She forces a smile on her face and says, "Jeremy, you have been a good friend of mine for a very long time. You know very well I won't date anyone. I can't allow myself to do that. I hope you will understand."

She takes her bag and leaves the cafe without saying another word.
