My name is Celine. I thought by moving to the big city I'll have a normal kinda lifestyle. Little did I know I took a job as the Devil's personal assistant. Better the Devil you know than the angel you don't.

Sitting in the restaurant , Max orders another glass of wine for the both of us. The conversation flows like we're old friends catching up on old times.
He takes a casual sip from his wine glass, then diverts his full attention back to me. "So have you been in California long?"
Cell phone : 'PING'.
I clear my throat and ignore my phone, looking at Max. "No , just about three years."
"And you? How long have you been here?"
He chuckles. "All my life actually."
"Wow , so you're Cali born and bred."
He throws his hands sheepishly in the air in surrender. "Guilty."
Cell phone : 'PING'
Cell phone : 'PING'
My cell phone starts to softly vibrate an incoming messages tone on the table.
"So why here, why Cali? Max doesn't seem one bit fazed by my irritating phone.
Cell phone : 'PING'
Until he looks at the phone going off again, and then back to me. "Do you need to get that, because really you can I don't mind."
"No, no it's fine, it's nothing important. "I hold the silent button in until it's completely mute and turn the phone on it's face as I slide it back onto the table.
He cocks his brow. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah... it's nothing I promise." Probably Damian who can't find his shoe.
I turn back giving Max my full attention. "Soooo, why Cali you ask?"
"Okay....." I think for a moment. "I know three years ago wasn't that long ago but when I got here round' about that time I was so naïve." I smile. "I only read about California in magazines, and news papers, all the celebrities lived here all the fun was here. And I , well I come from a small town in New Jersey so reading all these wonderful things about this place made me want to be here in the hype of it all."
I shrug. "So I came looking for adventure."
Max's grin deepens. "And did you find it?"
You have no fucking idea how rollercoaster these last few days were. I stare into his beautiful blue eyes. "No, the verdict is still out."
"I should make this a night you won't forget then."
"Oh I'm hoping on it." I lean forward a bit as his gaze travels slowly from my eyes then back to my lips, then back to my eyes again. "And you, what's your story Mr. Miller?"
