I see him smile. It's the kind of smile that transforms him into someone else entirely. The kind of smile that puts stars in his eyes and dazzle on his lips.

And I realize, I've never seen him like this before. He looks soft and vulnerable- so human. He is easily the most beautiful thing I've ever seen and I wish I'd never seen. Because something inside of my heart is ripping apart and it feels like fear, it taste like panic and desperation and I don't know how to understand the image in front of me.

I don't want to see Damian like this. I don't want to think of him as anything other than a monster.

"Any reason why you won't come inside?" He peers down at me , batting his eyelashes against the rain.

"I really don't like you!" I say nice and loud so we're clear, plus it started to come down hard with rain.

He slowly takes one step down the stairs as he taunts me with a soft spoken voice

He slowly takes one step down the stairs as he taunts me with a soft spoken voice.

"I like that you don't like me."

Then....

Another step.

My body frozen even as my heart pounds furiously in my chest.

"So I'm a challenge then? That's what all this is about?"

He slowly shakes his head revealing that devilish grin I know all too well. "No, It's about much much more."

I roll my eyes at the cliché statement. "So what was the emergency Damian?"

He chuckles. "It's fine I managed without you."

"Oh really?" I cross my arms, even though the rain is pouring down on my skin so hard, it's no match to the anger that's boiling inside. "No seriously what was so important it couldn't wait until tomorrow?" I say angrily.

"I said it's fine Miss Porter, I went through the user manual and eventually found the rinse button on the dishwasher."

I take a step back, seeing red I claw my hands into my hair. " For fuck sakes Damian." I explode from rage. "Are you kidding me right now?"

But he only stands there in the pouring rain, staring into my watery eyes as I feel like I'm about to cry.

"Don't you dare." I say as he looks at me utterly confused. "Don't you dare look at me like that!"

"Like what?" As he raises an eyebrow.

"I knew this was going to happen... Dammit!" I let out a frustrating scream. "I wish I could go back to the day I met you Damian Blakely and just walk away, because honestly it would've saved me so much hurt and pain."

"You're the one that's late Celine you pitched up at my house at midnight." He grins, but his grin turns into a dangerous tone. "What do you expect from me? A welcoming party? Maybe if you'd just answer you phone once in a while-"
