Twilight °

Father moved us again. I notice it's earlier than usual.

He brought us to a place with snow, but not yet the great snowy plains of the ice kingdoms. There are tall fir trees, a really shallow cave (you can see the bottom of it) and a fire. Around this fire are full of coffins made of dark wood and adorned with gold and silver pattern with sapphires.

All I had to do was read Father's mind to find out what was in them. They contain all of father's family. His mother, his brother, his sister, his cousins... all of them.

I leaned over the coffins: some have stab wounds, others have green faces, a sign of poisoning. Not very far, there is my uncle Gravial. He cries and he shouts Aunt Cristal's name. Tears flow from his devastated eyes.

- NO CRYSTAL WAKE UP! WAKE UP PLEASE...

He collapses to the ground. Father looks at the bodies but refrains from crying. Only his gaze betrays the impassive mask he has made for himself. I walk over to one of the coffins and look at the dragon inside.

I hold back a sob.

Inside is a dragonette and pieces of eggshell. The little one isn't even fully formed yet, but she has eyes of mudwings, the body of an icewing, and the colors of both clans. Cristal was stabbed in the stomach so the egg was destroyed at the same time, wiping out the life of a future vital dragon. Gravial has managed to free himself from the grip of an ice wing and rushes to the coffins of his wife and child. I see the pain in his eyes.

- take my paw. I told him handing it to him

"the second Darkstalkers!". He thought. Obviously he never heard of father's forbidden offspring

- No me it's Twilight.

He widens his eyes, but finally decides to take my paw.

- Close your eyes.

He closed his eyes. I concentrate, and then I open my eyes.

- open your eyes.

He opens them, and they take on a glow of pure happiness, joy, love and a bit of sadness mixed together. I took him in a vision. I show him a little piece of what his daughter would have become.

- Don't stray too far Quagmires. Said Crystal.

- Yes moms.

Cristal is with father. All my siblings too. They had organized a small picnic. I see myself rushing in pursuit of Quagmires, a good name for a dragonette that attracts a little trouble.

- Catch up ! I write to myself

- Yes you won, you're too strong.

Her caramelized eyes turn to the horizon with a dreamy air.

- You see the horizon, Twilight, she tells me. And much later I will travel all over the world to explore and find a land for the youngest ice wings.

- To avoid old people and their protocol. I'm done.

We burst out laughing and I fell out of her belly.

- You will see. With my future friends, we will travel and we will be called the dragons of the world!

- It will be great.

- I want this to happen. You will come, promise.

The vision begins to fade and we hear a few words from Quagmires.

- It's my dearest dream, Twilight.

We suddenly open our eyes, again in front of the coffins. Gravial cries but laughs a little. I put a paw on the lifeless body.

- I promise you, Quagmires.
