They were all she could hear, they were coming at her from everywhere, screaming, laughing! Then, out of nowhere, there was a click! She looked up, he had the pistol, he was gonna shoot! She didn't think, she just fired! The next second, it stopped, she took a breath.
There was a second of silence, then the thump of chair legs hitting the floor after lifting up a little. Her mind went completely blank as she saw splatters of red starting to run down Vi's chest, and looked up to see her pale and gasping! She barely felt the minigun dropping out of her hands! "N... No! No, no, no, no, no!" She ran over to her and pulled the chair out, dropping to her knees as she held Vi's head! "Vi! No, I... I'm sorry! I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry! Vi, I... I-I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I..."
Vi brought her eyes up and looked at her. "It... I-it's okay..." It sounded like she could barely get it out. "Powder, it..." Vi turned her head a little and coughed badly. Some blood came out the side of her mouth.
Seeing it, she felt herself tearing up. "V... Vi!" She stretches up and hugged her crying. Vi's back was all wet and sticky, but she just pulled her tighter feeling it. "I'm sorry! I-I'm sorry!"
Vi's voice was fainter this time, she almost didn't hear it. "It's okay..."
Suddenly, she felt something grabbing her shoulders! "Powder! Powder, wake up!" Her eyes opened, she saw Vi looking down at her. "There we go... It's okay, I'm right here."
She felt Vi's hand wiping her eyes, but just stared at her. She was laying on the couch again, Vi was sitting on the edge. "V... V-vi?" She reached out a hand and touched her cheek, then moved it down to her chest. "It... I-it's you, right? Th-the real you?"
"Yes. Of course." Vi slowly helped her sit up. She didn't take her hand off Vi's chest, though. "Y-you were just having a nightmare, everything's fine."
She moved her hand around Vi's chest just to be sure, then started tearing up again remembering. "I... I-I... shot you! He... H-he was going to shoot, I tried to... I wanted to save you, but... I shot you! You... You were dying, it... It was my fault! It... It was all my..."
"Shhhhh..." Vi put a hand on her cheek and rubbed it, then pulled her into a hug. "It's okay. It was just a dream."
She gulped, then wrapped her arms around Vi's neck. "Y... Y-you kept saying that. You almost... couldn't breathe, but... you just kept saying it..." Her throat suddenly got that awful burning, clogged feeling in it again, she started coughing! She couldn't stop, she felt herself being pulled away from Vi, but then her hand on her back. A second later, Vi handed her the towel again, and the blood came up soon after. Her throat didn't feel clogged anymore, but the burning was still there. That was the worst part of this whole thing.
"You okay?" Vi asked once the coughing had stopped.
"Yeah." Her voice didn't sound like her, it hurt to talk. She put a hand up to her neck. "That's awful!" Vi took the towel and put it back on the table, then rubbed her shoulder.
"Is she alright?" The voice came from behind the couch and made her jump a little. Caitlyn?! Right, she lived here, too. Must've gotten back while she was asleep.
"Yeah. I think so," said Vi. "Think you could... get her a glass of water, though, Cupcake?"
"Of course." Well, that was... kinda an odd way for her to say that. She expected her to sound more... annoyed. Whatever.
A minute later, Caitlyn brought the water out and Vi helped her drink it. "Better?"
She nodded, then looked down thinking about her dream again. "You weren't mad at me. You... You were dying because of what... what I did to you, but... y-you didn't get mad at me. I... I-it just made it worse! I couldn't help you, I... I couldn't even hate you! Is that... Is that weird?"
"No, I... I think I get it." Vi sighed, then put an arm around her.
That made her feel a little better, she moved closer to her. "I don't... I don't want to hurt you. I always hurt everyone, I... I can't hurt you!" Vi put the other arm around her from. "M-maybe I am just a jinx, but... I-I can't hurt you!"
"You won't." Vi pulled her really close, so that her ear was right on top of her chest. She could hear Vi's heartbeat, it made her feel a little calmer. She smiled a bit, then felt Vi brush her cheek. "You won't hurt me, okay? You won't. I'll say it again, you're... You're not a jinx."
She put an arm around Vi and gave her a little squeeze, then looked at her own tattoos. "You know, I... Some part of me always knew you weren't dead. Silco kept saying you were, but... somehow, I just knew." She smiled and rubbed the blue clouds all along her arm. "Even when I was alone, I... They agreed with him, they'd say you were gone. I wanted... something to remind me that... that you'd come back for me someday." She smiled brightly. "I kept thinking about... when I'd find out you were back and... light that flare, so you'd know where to find me."
The next second, she suddenly felt arms wrapping around her legs and back as Vi lifted her into her lap. She couldn't help a little giggle. "Didn't exactly go the way you thought, huh?" Vi said uncomfortably.
"Well, it did at first, but then..." She turned her head and looked at Caitlyn, now leaning against the wall behind them. Her arms were crossed, her head was almost completely down. She kinda looked like she was... thinking about something?
There was a bit of a weird silence just then, with Vi just rubbing her arm with the tattoos on it. "You know what?" said Vi looking up at her after a minute. She took her eyes off Caitlyn, and looked at her sister. "I think we have enough time. Let's give you that haircut. Okay?"
"Now? I-I mean, now?"
Vi nodded, running her hand up and down her back. "I can't... do anything about the purple eyes or the white skin, but... maybe it'll help you kinda see you're not... You know." She nodded, then hugged her super tightly! She felt Vi hug back, then push back softly. "Okay. Let's go. We'll do it in the kitchen, come on."
"Okay." She got up from Vi's lap and started for the kitchen.
"You think cutting your hair will make any..." Silco began.
"Shut up," she interrupted him. "No one asked you." She bit her lower lip, then noticed Caitlyn looking at her from against the wall. There was nothing odd or unclear about the look in her eyes. Caitlyn was creeped out by her and wanted her gone.
