3rd POV

Wither had contracted the demon curse; he had four red eyes, curled horns, claws, a demon tail and demon wings. The demon curse affected someone once every century; and no one knew how to save Wither... or if they could. They were all too scared to try.

But one person was determined to save him...

Wither was on a destructive rampage, flying over everyone and swiping at them with his sharp claws.

"RUN!" Zombie screamed, followed by Pigman. Everyone was running from the demon Wither... except for one.

"Skeleton! You're going the wrong way!" Ghast screamed.

"He's going to kill you!" Slime added.

Their words didn't matter to Skeleton; he had to try and save him, even if it ended up getting him killed.

As everyone else ran, Skeleton stopped right in front of the demonized Wither. Wither swooped down and landed in front of him.

"Wither, it's me," Skeleton said, looking straight into Wither's four red eyes with his own two blue ones.

Wither snarled, and took a step closer to Skeleton. But Skeleton didn't flinch.

"It's me, Wither," he repeated, taking a step closer. Wither snarled and swiped at him with his sharp claws, leaving four claw marks on his arm. Skeleton fell back to the ground, clutching his arm, not letting himself scream. He knew Wither had to be in there somewhere.

He stood up again, letting go of his wounded arm and looking straight at Wither.

"I know you're in there," he said, "I know you can hear me, Wither."

This time, Wither didn't snarl, but he looked at Wither with this look, a look like Wither didn't recognize him. And that broke Skeleton's heart.

"Please, Wither, let me help you," he said, daring to take another step toward him. Again, Wither didn't snarl or make any move to attack him, but he still looked at Skeleton with the same expression, the 'I don't recognize you' one.

"Wither, don't you recognize me?" Skeleton asked, his voice and expression growing sad. He took another step toward Wither, who took a step back.

"Please, Wither," Skeleton said, taking another step closer, while the demonized Wither took a step backwards. It was clear that the demon inside him wasn't sure what to do; no one had ever dared to come this close to someone with the Demon Curse, much less tried to help them.

"Wither, it's me, it's Skelly," he repeated, taking a step closer. This time, Wither didn't take a step back.

Skeleton walked the rest of the few steps to be right in front of Wither, who looked at him, confused.

"I know you're in there, Wither. I know you're still the same Wither I've always known," Skeleton said, looking straight into Wither's demonized eyes, which were filled with confusion.

Skeleton dared to leap forward and hug Wither tightly. Wither struggled, but Skeleton didn't let go.

"I know you're there," he repeated, looking up at Wither's face. "I know it." This time, the faintest trace of recognition flashed in his blood red eyes.

"I don't care that you're a demon, you're still Wither," he said, then prepared himself for the next sentence.

"You're still the same Wither I've secretly loved," he whispered.
