a loud roar from outside draws grace away from her cooking, before walking over to see who it is. and there stood her answer. there stood a stephen wilkins smiling at his daughter as if he was doing a huge favor for her.

"what in the actual hell are you doing here?" snapped grace

"your mom didn't tell you i was swinging by?"

grace doesn't answer, allowing her father to answer for her instead: "she might of slipped that you were here; hurts that you didn't bother to call your old man and pay him a visit"

grace turned around and re-entered her home, with her dad closely behind. grace hasn't physically seen her father since she was 17 years old. there've been calls and emails but they were ended quickly or sporadically replied to. and eventually, the calls and emails ceased to exist and grace gave up altogether with her dad.

"don't you have kids to take care of?"

"they're all grown up like you, little birdie"

grace felt her body tensed up at the nickname before taking in a deep breath and said: "i'm busy, so whatever you need, hurry up"

"i can't see my daughter? i don't know when's the last time i saw you"

"sounds like a you problem" snapped grace

stephen lets out a sigh, before asking what her plans for today are.

"right now? getting away from you" grace answered, gathering her items

"you heading to the studio? i can come!" stephen replied

"no, i'm not going to the studio and even if i was, i would never bring you along!"

grace didn't really have any plans but hoped ones come up so she can get her dad away from her.

"are you just trying to get rid of me?" asked stephen

"why does it matter" grace responded

stephen frowns before grace hears her phone ring. the singer grabs it and quickly answers, not knowing who was calling.

"hello?" grace asked

"you sound excited to hear from me" cordell's voice rang on the other side

"just for today. what do you need?" grace asked

"i need you at the sidestep ASAP, it's an emergency"

"is it an emergency? or are you being overdramatic"

cordell lets out an annoying sigh before telling grace to hurry up. the singer glances at her dad before saying she'll be over in five minutes. once the call ends, cordell can even make a snarky or corny comment.

grace looks at stephen before sharing that she needed to get to the sidestep bar for an emergency.

"what kind of emergency?"
