A YEAR AGO
grace had been living in new york since she was about 22. it was nice being in the big city even if part of her missed texas every once in a while. but only because of her mother, otherwise grace was fine being away from texas. there wasn't anything there for her. her father had his family and didn't need grace.
and....everyone else has moved on with their life. except for magnolia, she was the only other expectation that grace would return back to texas. being in new york, befriending other celebrities and creating music was beneficial.
however, grace was slowly blossoming herself and slowly opening a part of herself that she wasn't sure she was able to open before and had suppressed it for so long prior to growing up in texas.
last year grace had met with a new guitarist for her band, her name was fiona peterson. she was amazing and really pretty. grace thought that it was normal to think about other women for days and go to sleep thinking about how pretty they are and how nice it would be to kiss their lips.
of course, grace knew what this feeling was, she had this feeling back when she was in 7th grade to another girl in her classroom. when she realized it wasn't a normal feeling that girls have, grace automatically suppressed her feelings completely and ignored them for so long. growing up in such a conservative state where grace couldn't be herself without being hated.
so when grace met fiona, she realized these feelings she was having couldn't go away anymore. and grace is in new york, away from home, away from people who have known her since she was child. but grace still fears about this part of her coming out.
it started one night after rehearsal where grace was starving and was hoping to look forward to eating, however no one else but fiona wanted to come along with grace to get some food. grace tried to get out of it but simon insisted grace goes because of the fact that she has been constantly avoiding fiona ever since they hired her to work with the group.
but how was grace supposed to tell simon that she has possible feelings for fiona.

so now it was grace and fiona taking an uber to a nearby restaurant. grace looked out the window most of the time, hoping the car ride goes fast, she can feel fiona's glances every now and then.
"so, rehearsal was great today" fiona states
"uh huh" grace responded, with her voice sounding little to no interest
fiona just nodded her head before looking out her own window. grace felt horrible for not interacting with fiona but she felt that if she gives fiona even an ounce of attention, she'll know what grace is.

they arrived at the chinese food restaurant where they placed their orders and waited till it was time to go.
