Not even 24 hours after his phone call someone had spilled the beans that Lex had completely bought the school. News outlets were in an uproar when they found out that Lex Luthor had bought Luna's school, giving him control over everything. Journalists scrambled to investigate the story, asking questions and digging deeper into what had happened. There were mixed reactions to the news. Some people were worried about the implications of a powerful and wealthy businessman having control over a school, while others saw it as an opportunity for change and improvement. As information came out about Luthor's plans for the school, the conversation shifted toward his motives and intentions. Many wondered whether Luthor was truly interested in improving the school or if he had some ulterior agenda. Within his first day of owning the school, Lex had fired over 90% of the teachers there and hired much more knowledgeable and qualified to teach there. He also changed the name to Luthor Academy for the academically gifted. He stated he wouldn't expel any students but at the end of the semester if their grades didn't reach a 3.5 GPA then he would expel them from the school.
Opinion pieces in newspapers and online blogs began to question the ethics of private individuals having control over public schools. Parents and educators shared their concerns about how Lex's involvement would affect the students and the quality of education. Despite the backlash, he remained steadfast in his plans for the school. He argued that he had the resources and expertise to make the school better than ever before, and insisted that he was doing it for the good of the community. The media coverage continued as Lex's plans for the school unfolded. With so much at stake, journalists remained vigilant in their reporting and kept the public informed of developments as they occurred.
Over the next few weeks, things started to get better at school. The bullies no longer messed with her for fear of what her dad would do. Luna also started to make new friends who supported and encouraged her. For the first time in a long time, she felt happy and confident, and like she could take on the world. One night she did something she thought she would never do, she hacked into the school's system and made sure to change the grades of her bullies. Even if they worked hard for the rest of the school year there was no way that their grades would let them stay. So before anyone knew it, she knew they would for sure get expelled and lose any scholarships the school provided. She felt a mix of emotions, she loved the power she felt but hated that she had to do it in a shady way.
Lex ended up finding out what she did but instead of getting onto her, he decided it was time to lead her down the path he was on. She was in one of her rooms, a place Lex had installed so Luna could do her experiments. Lex walked in on her tinkering away at something. "Luna honey I need to talk to you for a second," Lex said while guiding her away from what she was doing to a desk for them to sit at.
"My dear daughter, the world we live in is flawed and corrupted by the so-called heroes that everyone seems to worship. But you and I both know that true power lies in taking control of our destiny. Join me to end all peral and we will become the true saviors of mankind, shaping the future in our image. Together, we will stop any more wars to happen trust me, my child, for we are Luthors, and we always win." He said. Luna had no words to say. Yes, she had a gifted mind and could help not only her dad but others with it to end the devastation. But she was still a child. Luna sat in thought for a couple of minutes, not being able to say anything. "It's okay if you don't know what you feel but we will surely visit this conversation some other time. I love you my daughter and I'll have the cooks prepare your favorite meal. Go back to being my little genius." Lex said as he got up and left her alone. Luna truly was torn, on one hand, she wanted the approval of her father, showing him that she could do something but on the other hand she had a sickening feeling in her stomach that something terrible would happen if she helped him. She didn't have to make up her mind right now, she just needs to think.
That night everything was awkward. "Luna honey, don't worry about what I asked you, I expect you to do what feels right for you, not for me," Lex told his daughter as they dug into their food. "I know Dad, this surprised me. I mean I know of the reputation you have. I just don't want anything bad to happen to you or me." Luna explains her feelings. "Honey I know you know of my past, but this is different. I just want the unnecessary death and devastation to stop." Lex explained to his daughter. Luna felt a sense of sincerity from her dad. After feeling his comfort in the situation she did what she does best, follow her dad like a lost puppy. "Ok Dad, so what's the plan?" She asked. "I'm glad you decided to join, we'll discuss this more when the time arises," Lex said.
Luna was laying on her bed thinking more about what happened today. She hoped she might the right decision as she trusted her dad with her entire life. Her tv was on the news but she paid no attention to it. As she turned away she fell asleep. Missing that the major news was that there would have been a bridge collapse on one of the major bridges that weren't up to code. The day was saved by Superman and his new sidekick Superboy.
