I watched as Mary Alex fell limp on Michael Varex's chest. I rushed to keep her from falling, but I didn't focus. Because Michael's eyes were now open. The infamous boy had shown up at our camp one day and collapsed. He had his eyes closed ever since. I never saw his eyes before. They were the color of the Atlantic.
"Mary?" he asked. He rubbed his eyes. He reached for her hand. then he winced. Then he seemed to notice me and Will standing here. His eyes widened.
"Where- Who are you?"
"Where at Camp Half- Blood. I'm Annabeth Chase, this is Will Solace. You were saved by Mary over there." I explained.
"Saved from what?"
"Death" said Will. It was a small word, but I could see the panic rising in Michael's eyes. Michael glanced down at Mary. He just seemed to notice she was unconscious. He tried to sit up.
"Here." Will said. he went to the cot and propped Michael up with pillows and helped him sit up.
"Thanks"
Mary started to slip off the cot. I caught her just as she was about to hit the floor.
"Will, can you get another cot set up for her?" I asked. as will went to set another up, I confronted Michael.
He looked at Mary. " What is wrong with her?"
"I don't know. She healed you with some crazy water trick and blacked out."
Michael looked unsatisfied. So was I.
"She did look for you pretty hard though. She said what, two years."
His face darkened at that. "I told her if I didn't come back to the spot we had met at, then another two years and she didn't find me than I would be dead, and she would need to find someone else."
"Someone else for what?" Will asked. Michael's face turned red. I had a feeling that it had to do with why she cared so much about him. Will and I took hold of Mary and laid her into the cot across from Michael's.
"Do you know any way we can heal her?" I asked.
" I'll think about it." He raced to get up bit Will held him down. "UH Uh Uh, pretty boy. You're not going anywhere. Doctor's orders."
Michael didn't look happy about it, but he sat back down. Me and Will walked out of the healing tent.
"Pretty boy?" I asked Will.
"Yah. If you didn't notice, he, Mary, and the rest of the newcomers are way prettier than the average person."
Now that I thought about it, I realized that Will was right. They all looked like super models.
"I hope they are trustworthy." I said.
"Let's go ask Nico, he might know." said Will.
They came up to Nico Di Angelo, who was sulking near the Hades bunk. The grasses around his feet were all withered and brown.
"Hi Nico" I said. He always unsettled me. "We were wondering if you could sense if the elves were trustworthy."
"They are" he said, though he didn't look happy about it.
"You have a history with Mary" Will guessed.
"She was with them when they rescued me from that bronze gar." he replied.
"Them?"
"Hazel, Frank, Annabeth, Jason, Piper, Leo, Percy."
I noticed that Nico had deliberately said Percy's name last. I guessed that he still was a little sensitive around Percy, given their, ah, relationship before. Which was not my place, so I kept quiet.
"Thanks, Nico." I said. We turned and walked away a little. It was a little suddenly, but I was sure that we needed to make sure that Mary was a little ok before we started to speculate if Nico was correct. We headed to the healing tent, and we heard Micheal yelling for our names.
We found him trying to pull Mary off the cot.
"What are you doing?" will asked.
"I figured it out. She healed me with water, right?"
"Yes"
"So, she can be healed with water! We need to get her to the lake!"
Me and Will helped Micheal secure the surprisingly light girl off the cot and we carried her to the lake. Despite his earlier brush with death, Micheal seemed to be better, except for the winces every time he did something with his chest. We set her gently in the water, face up. The water seemed to swirl around her, going faster and faster, until the water on her started glowing. Her chest came up, and Mary grasped for a breath. Michael's theory worked! Mary gasped. she started to flounder in the water, then stopped and noticed us staring at her.
"What?"
"Your completely dry" I said.
I could handle super athletic - ness, I could handle not dying, I could even handle bringing people back from the dead, but I couldn't handle her clothes being dry after we literally dunked her into a lake. Was she a daughter of Poseidon? She was older than Percy. Percy could control if he got wet or not. Sophie told us that the elves had never died of old age yet, so that could be what's going on and she was born when the big three hadn't made the pact never to have demigods anymore.
A flash of light interrupted my train of thought. Floating above Mary's head, Was an embellished crown of gold. the sign of- no, that couldn't be! She hadn't been heard of for millennia! Yet, here was her symbol.
Apparently, a crowd had gathered when they had seen Mary being dragged to the lake. Chiron knelt down and bowed his head.
"Hail", he said gravely, as if he was reciting at her funeral, " Mary Alex, daughter of Rhea, Mother Titan, Queen of the Titans."
