" Good morning class, today we are going over how to give a patient stitches. " my professor said as he walked into class
" If you didn't wear or bring your scrubs in you may not participate in this portion of the class today and that will result in a zero as well for the day. " He said putting his bag down as he excused quite a few of my classmates
" However if you brought scrubs and need to change you may do so now. " He said as other students went into the changing rooms
As I was organizing my station I realized I had received a text message from benji, I contemplated on if I wanted to look at it especially because I didn't feel like having my mood ruined this early in the morning.
" Alright class lets get started " Professor Johnson said as my classmates returned with their scrubs on
After my class was over I cleaned up my station and packed up my laptop and notebook as wall as my Ipad. I decided that I wanted to get a drink from starbucks and headed that way.
I decided on getting a venti strawberry açaí lemonade with raspberry syrup with a cake pop and called it a day. I walked to a area on campus that a lot of people don't go and sat under a tree and began to take my notes.
Over the past few weeks I feel like I haven't been giving my education enough attention. I've been letting other people and things get my attention as well as my energy and it's not beneficial to me in the long run.
I need to put more of my energy into my future, which is why I'll be starting a internship next week to get more experience and it will also go towards my credits for graduation.
" So you can't respond to a simple text message? " I herd a voice say from behind me
I turned around to see benji looking down at me
" Can't you see i'm trying to further my education? " I asked sarcastically
" So you couldn't send a message letting me know that ? " he asked squatting down becoming eye level with me
" I didn't even look at my phone to see who texted me because I was in class " I said annoyed
" What about this whole situation goin- " I cut him off
" I tried to come to you and help and YOU shut me out when all I wanted to do was be there for yo ass. You choose to believe your girlfriend so stand on it. Go be with your homeboys and your girlfriend that you trust 'oh so much' since they have your back all the time. " I said getting frustrated
" I'm trying to better myself and what are you doing? sitting here being a distraction. You put yo trust in a bitch you haven't even known for three months and look where it's getting you, no where but losing the people you close too. "
" I'm tired and i'm done. " I said leaving him standing there as I walked away to my car
After I got home I changed out of my scrubs and got into the shower. I looked at my phone and noticed I missed a call from benjis mom so I called her back.
" Hey Ms. Lena, everything ok? " I asked as I sat on my bed
" Yea I just wanted to talk to you for a few if that's ok? " she asked
" Yes of course " I said
" I know you and benji not hanging out as much anymore but does it have something to do with this other girl I keep seeing him with? " she asked
" One thing about him, he's going to do what he wants regardless of anything else. " I said not wanting to answer that question
" I don't like that girl, it's something about her that just don't sit right with me " she sighed
" Ever since he started messing with her he been in them streets more and now he's never home " she continued
" I know.....he stopped talking to me because I guess I was causing problems in their relationship " I said telling her the truth
" That's ridiculous he doesn't know this girl from adam and eve. Why would he let her come between you too? " she asked
" Ms. Lena it's ok, clearly our friendship wasn't worth it and i'm ok with that " I said truthfully
" Well i'm not, that lil girl don't look like nothing but trouble. " She said
" But let me go baby I'm sorry for disturbing you " she said as she hung up
I sighed and shook my head as I put my phone on dnd. I put my LED lights on green and decided to roll up.
I knew the kind of life style benji was in by the time we got into highschool. The leaving school early, leaving his house all times of the night and not coming home till the next day.
He has came home countless times with bloodstains on his clothes to the point where I just stop asking.
I started staring off into space until I decided to check instagram then I noticed I had ten missed calls from lay so I called her back.
" Hey- slow down girl I can't understand you " I said sitting up
" I've been calling you what the hell kapri " she said sounding like she was crying
" Sorry I had my phone on dnd, what's wrong ? " I asked
" Come to the hospital benji and eli got shot " she said sounding upset
I got up and grabbed my keys so fast and left out to meet them at the hospital
