cw: strong language, mild violence

I woke up to the sound of birds chirping outside my window, I sat up and unplugged my phone from the charger to check the time. 6:00 AM. I groan after realizing how early it is, but we have to meet Levi in the mess hall at 8, and after yesterday's fiasco I decide to get ready now.

I grab my  things and head towards the shared girls showers, considering I was awake much earlier than I needed to be, I was delighted that there was nobody else around. I undress and jump into the shower, after washing my body and hair I quickly dry off with my towel and throw my hair up in a sloppy bun, I'll fix it later.

The showers sit right next to cabin 8, the boys bathroom right next to it, and then the girls. Camp Colossal isn't very large but that adds to the charm, it's truly like we're one big happy family.

I put my clothes for the day on, an oversized t-shirt and black bike shorts. There's no need to look good today as we are just going to be cleaning around the camp. I finish off my look with white Nike socks and my dirty Air Force 1's. I leave the shower and head back towards my cabin. I look up and feel my stomach drop into my feet.

I'm face to face with Jean, who was also leaving the men's showers. Except he isn't dressed. His hair is slicked back with water and he has a gray towel tied around his waist, he also lacks a shirt. I pause and notice how muscular he has gotten, his stomach is much more defined than I realized, and his chest is ornamented with a tattoo that leads all the way down his right arm. How have I never noticed that before? It must be new.

I snap back to reality when my eyes meet with his. "Uhh good mor- it's nice to look- I mean see you" I stumble over my words. Get it together Y/N, it's just Jean. I hate Jean. "It's good to see me?" Jean questions, his eyebrow raising and I think I see the faintest sign of a smirk cross his mouth. He's so arrogant. "No- I thought you were someone else." I obviously lie. There's no way he didn't notice me sizing him up. I need to get out of here. "Right..." Jean replies. "Anyways. Time to go. Don't want to be late for task assignments." I quickly state before speed walking back to my cabin.

I run up the stairs to my cabin and slam the door behind me. I see Hitch laying on her bed scrolling through her phone. "Oh hey Y/N, are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost" Hitch says in a less than caring tone. "Oh ya I'm fine, just uh- someone walked in on me in the shower, must have been one of the newbys. No biggie" I head to my bed and start to brush through the rats nest that's developed on the top of my head. "You showered?" Hitch questions "Ugh I wish I cared about how I look as much as you do, I just find it so pointless since we're just at camp" I ignore her comment and clench my jaw in annoyance.

I finish brushing my hair and decide that I'm ready for the day, I look at my phone, it's 7:15. I notice a text from Sasha.

Sash🍗: GOOOOD MORNING SUNSHINE!!! Come to mine & Mikas cabin when you're ready and we'll walk to the mess together. I need to tell you something 🥳🥳

I smile to myself and internally thank Sasha for unknowingly giving me a way out of this cabin. I turn to Hitch "I'll see you at 8, I'm going to go meet Sasha" she doesnt look up from her phone and says "No problem, some of the boys are coming over  to hang for a bit anyways." I look away and roll my eyes "Okay see you later!" I barely finish my sentence before I'm out the door.

I open the door to Sasha's cabin and see Mikasa, Sasha and Armin sitting around chatting. My heart smiles. "Hey guys!" I say excitedly, "Who's ready for the first official day of camp???" Mikasa giggles at my enthusiasm and Armin looks up and smiles. "Y/N! Finally! Okay guys gather around, I have news" Sasha exclaims. I'm confused as to what news she could possibly have considering it's been less than 10 hours since I last saw her. I take a seat on the floor next to Mikasa's bed.
