Avery's POV-- again....
I'm laying in bed wide awake at seven am on Thanksgiving because we decide to stay at Memphis parents house and not a hotel like we originally planned and Memphis mother put us in separate rooms. I fucking hate it. I don't like sleeping without Memphis anyways but in this big scary house it's even worse. I just wish we could be out and together with none of this sneaking around but I know he isn't ready.
Ugh.i give up on going back to sleep and I get up and put on some pajamas and walk across the hall into Memphis room. I see he is still asleep so I climb under the covers and steal all his warmth. I put my cold hands on his belly and he stirs. He looks down at me and smiles. "Hmm what's wrong little man?" I nuzzle into the crook of his neck and whisper back. " I couldn't sleep I was scared and cold all night. I didn't like sleeping with out you." Memphis sighs and rolls into me a little bit. "I'm sorry baby I didn't realize." I smile. "It's Ok."
Memphis rolls over and off the bed. "Come on little man there is something I want to show you." I get up relunctingly I hate to get up early and I wanted to sleep in on this little vacation but it looks like Memphis has other plans. We quietly walk down the hall and down the stairs into the mud room where we put in some winter jackets and head outside.
We walk past the horse barn to another giant shed like structure where Memphis pulls out a saddle and I shake my head no. "No I am not getting on one of those beasts Memphis Rawlings you have bumped your head." Memphis kisses my lips softly. "Don't be scared babe Drummer is the best horse we got and he is pretty old and tame come on I think you will have the time of your life."
I give him a disbelieving look but he just stalks away to the horse barn leaving me no choice but to follow. Memphis mounts the saddles on two horses quickly tying intricate straps and holsters before turning around and motioning me coward. I grab his out stretched hand but stop short of the deep chestnut brown horse he calls Drummer.
"Babe I promise you this will be fun and I would never let anything happen to you." Ughh I'm still a little scared as I look up at Memphis beautiful blue eyes and cave. "Ok Meme just go real slow promise me." He crosse his heart with his finger then winks at me while helping me mount the horse. He gives me a few instructions for how to use the rains and the commands to make the horse stop and go then we are slowing moving out of the barn with my horse following behind Memphis' midnight black horse.
We ride in silence for about ten minutes with my horse following Memphis' not needing much instruction from me before I finally start to relax and feel comfortable. I make a clicking noise and get my horse to walk beside Memphis instead of behind him. Memphis smiles brightly at me. "See your a natural, I told you this would be fun and just wait till you see the pound we're heading too it's peaceful and beautiful too, I think it's my favorite place on the ranch."
We arrive at the pond and Memphis ties our horses raines to a tree and motions for me to walk with him. "You know when I was a teenager I spent most of my free time at this pond. Being back here now makes me wonder if I could have ever been happy here?"
I'm taken aback by hearing Memphis' thought about his home. "I thought you couldn't wait to leave this place when you were a teenager?" Memphis looks at me and smiles. "Yeah but now that I'm back here with you I think maybe I could happy anywhere with you."
My heart stills and breath catches in my throat. "Meme are you thinking about moving back here?" Memphis shakes his head. "No just maybe thinking we could at least visit like once or twice a year? I think you would love summer time in Texas it would be so hot we could skinny dip in this here pond how does that sound?"
I love the twinkle in Memphis eyes. "Of course skinny dipping with you would lead to some other fun activities I have never done in water." Memphis gives me a sly look and that's my only warning before I'm picked up and thrown over Memphis shoulder as he runs toward the water with me screeching No No.
