Gwen awoke bright and early for school. It was a Friday, she almost made it to the weekend. Rolling out of bed, she started her morning routine. She showered, got dressed, styled her hair, and sat down at her desk to cram in a little more studying before her test today.
Soon, her alarm clock went off, signaling it was time to go to school. She turned it off, before leaving her room.
"You off to school, Gwen?" Her father asked, as he fastened his belt, readying to go into work.
"Yep, I'll be home a little later, too. I'm going to go watch a movie with Miles after school."
"It's good to see you moving on from Kaleb, sweetie. Have fun." He said, not ready for her instant reaction.
"What? No, it's not a date, dad. Why'd you say it like that, too? 'Moving on from Kaleb' sounds like you didn't like him."
"I-I'm sorry, Gwen. I thought—" He was cut off by the door slamming. She had left. George Stacy let out a sigh, disappointed in himself.
She was out the front door of her apartment complex before she finished groaning. What the hell was her dad talking about? Getting over Kaleb? The one year anniversary of his death was yesterday. It wasn't a date, and every party involved knew that, didn't they?
"Hey, Gwen, need a ride?" Harry's voice came out of nowhere, as a black Rolls Royce pulled to the sidewalk. She nodded, before the back door swung open. She got in, closing the door behind her with a brief 'thanks'.
"You okay, Gwen?" Harry asked, concerned.
"Fine, why?" She kept her sentences very curt, a sure sign that she was pissed.
"What happened?"
"Nothing!"
"Gwen.."
"Just something my dad said. He thought Miles and I were going on a movie date today."
"I'm going to be totally honest here, Gwen, so I reserve the right to not get hit." He braced himself nonetheless. "Everyone thinks you two are going out on a date."
"What?!" The absolute horror on her face would have been funny, if he wasn't in hitting range.
"I can't believe it, this is just fuckin' priceless."
"Language." The driver sternly said, as she chuckled dryly.
Today was going to be rough.

"Alright class, in case you haven't noticed yet, we have a new student. Edward, would you come up here and introduce yourself please?" Their teacher beckoned the kid with short brown hair and a Detroit Lions varsity jacket slowly sulked to the front.
"Hi, uh, everyone. My name's Eddie Brock, only old ladies and my mother call me Edward." A couple students, including MJ and Harry, laughed at that remark. "I'm 17, I moved here from Detroit for.. personal reasons. Yeah, that's about it."
He walked back to his desk, which was in the back corner, next to Gwen's. She ignored him, already not having a stellar day. She didn't need to talk to some new kid. Besides, she already knew Harry was going to invite him to sit with them at lunch.
"Uh, hey, I'm Eddie. Eddie Brock." He stuck his hand out towards her for a handshake, which Gwen ignored. "Okay, not a handshake type of person. What's your name?"
"Gwen."
"Just.. Gwen?"
"Stacy."
"Which is it, Gwen or Stacy?" Gwen's head was in her hands. She groaned, rather loudly, alerting the teacher to their conversation.
