"?!"
kunikuzushi felt a sharp slap on his back as he was walking to his dorm room. he jerked his head towards the direction of his back instinctively and was about to punch the fuck out of whoever the culprit was, but his swing was stopped abruptly by the other's grip.
"who greets their friends with a punch?" heizou laughed as he swung kunikuzushi's arm away from his palm.
"that's rich coming from you, asshole." kunikuzushi scoffed, unimpressed. well, he wasn't gonna hit him after realising who the hitman was, anyway.
"i gotta talk to you 'bout something. your room? my roommate's in my dorm right now and he said he was busy today."
"it's still the landfill you remember, if not worse."
"your bluffs are useless. lemme in!"
"tch..."
the room was squeaky clean...
"y'know, i normally like keeping my things tidy. the reason why my room was a pile of shit the last time you came was because i got caught up studying and i didn't have the time nor energy to clean."
"you? studying? oho, that's news. either way, you didn't need to clear that much up. i knew already. by the way, is this an indicator?"
"...for what?"
"that you officially trust me!"
"figure that out yourself, you nosy prick." he was embarrassed.
"embarrassing topics just keep coming up..." heizou sighed.
"just spit it out."
"sharp one, aren't ya? alright then, lemme ask you. do you like kazuha? romantically, by the way."
okay, i asked you to spit it out, but that directness is unwarranted.
kunikuzushi, of course, froze.
that question sent him in a spiral of deep thought.
well, he is cute, there's no doubt about that. his voice is also deep and smooth. when he speaks, it's as if flowers come out of his mouth instead of words. we both like adventure. we both like literature. holy fuck, he's cute. wait, no. yes? argh... nah, no...
but i barely know him. is he an orphan? doesn't seem like he has parents. huh? then why is he not in the dorms? what're his grades like? who are his friends? what's his favourite colour? what food does he like? what are his hobbies? i don't know at all. huh, i don't know him that well.
could it be that i just like the thought of him? i barely know anything about him. fuck, this is too complicated...
am i too shallow? i knew it, i suck...
"hey now, that wasn't a cue to have you start beating yourself up."
"the fuck, can you read my mind?"
"hah, no. it's just that your face was contorting into so many different things you became really easy to read. i don't know what you're thinking about..."
"stop lying... i know you do."
"...you must be thinking that your love for him is an illusion."
"for the most part... how'd you know?"
"it was easy. i know neither of you know each other that well, and you both only adventure together. then your insecure ass fell for him, so naturally you'd have self destructive thoughts."
"wow."
"all in a day's work. i knew i'd have to get you to be self aware first, lest you start having a crisis on your own because of your stubbornness. you knew you liked him, didn't you? you were just denying it with all your might."
"you read me right there... but here's the thing. firstly, i barely know him. secondly, i've never received such care from another person in my entire life, so doesn't that mean that my love only stems from my... greediness?"
"i'm not gonna answer that."
"why?!"
"figure it out yourself. honestly, it's a miracle that you're aware of your feelings. most people wouldn't even consider the reason for their feelings and charge into a relationship without second thought. then they end up hurting each other because, well, they were blinded by love."
"...urk, so cheesy. but, yeah."
"if you find out the root of your desire for him yourself, wouldn't it just strengthen your feelings and your relationship with him? it's one less thing to worry about mid relationship. nobody's telling you to ask him out right away."
"i hate that you're right."
"you're welcome~"
