heizou sat in bed, planning his next move. aether refused to help him any further, so he was on his own. he tried his hardest to recall anything kazuha's said to him, but he can't find anything useful.

"haha, look at that! that bottle looks like a penis..."

"heizou, why can snowmen and snow-women make babies? snowballs..."

"ACK FUCKIN' HELL I DID NOT NEED THOSE MEMORIES!"

*the sentences spoken by kazuha were done when he was 13. he was still fresh in puberty and quite immature.

——

"kazuha, please stop spacing out... we're at the last equation." heizou said, almost pleading.

"oh...! my bad."

"do you have anything in mind?"

"yeah, but i doubt that it'll work..."

"dude, what? doubting isn't like you. just try. what more could you do if you don't even know your chances of success with this equation?"

huh, wait.

i think i've said something similar before...

"but some things are always worth a shot, no? don't go thinking about performing alternatives when plan A doesn't even have a set outcome yet."

"haha, hahahaha..."

"...you're creeping me out."

"you're right, heizou. you're right. what was i thinking? i was planning on alternatives before i even tried anything. i should've followed my own advice... haha..."

"...it's not that de— ohhh."

"i'll be right back."

"HEY! CLASS HASN'T FINISHED YET! I STILL DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO THIS!! THAT WAS NOT A CUE FOR YOU TO LEA—"

"shikanoin, pipe down. where'd kaedehara go?"

"...sorry, teach. he went to the bathroom..."

——

kazuha knew kunikuzushi decided to skip school again. honestly, he's been on track about kunikuzushi's presence this whole time, and it's been almost 3 weeks since they've spoken properly to each other. that should've been a long enough time to ponder about one's own feelings, no?

kazuha ran and ran down the dorm halls.

"room 88, room 88, room 88... there it is!"

kazuha took a deep breath before knocking on the door.

"i-it's now or never..."

hell, that wasn't even a knock. one would've thought kazuha was trying to tear the door down...

"gAAH! what the FUCK?! I'M SICK!"

"oh, shit..."

kunikuzushi reluctantly rolled off of his bed to open his door.

creak

"...kazuha?"

"you are not sick..." kazuha smiled as he pulled kunikuzushi in for a hug. oh, how he missed that sensation.

kunikuzushi couldn't even protest. he's been waiting for this since forever.

there they were, embracing each other so openly without a care for the outside world.

they finally broke it off after a while.

"can i talk to you about something...?"

"...come in."

the two shuffled awkwardly into the room, and sat down on the bed.

silence...

why did this have to be so hard...

"ahem... uh..."

"ahh..."

"?!"

"you... you go first."

"no..."

"what do you mean, no?" kazuha chuckled.

kunikuzushi's heart skipped a beat. and that was what motivated him to finally spill everything out.

"kazuha... i'm sorry... i know i'm not the best person, but, you honestly don't know how important you are to me. you're the first ever person to show actual care for me, and... and you don't know how much i appreciate it. it's just, whenever i'm around you, i feel like my pain is eased and i feel comforted. nobody else can provide that for me, not even heizou. i know i barely know anything about you, like 'what's your favourite colour' or 'what do you like to eat', and those questions alike, but... argh. you know what, promise me you won't leave me after this."

kazuha stayed silent. kunikuzushi tried his best to lock eyes with kazuha, and just said:

"i like you, kazuha."
