"Maybe if I spend some time with Becki, I can divert my mind off of Floret? It's just a phase like cold feet, right?" He asked her.
"Yeah, I'm sure that will work," She expressed with her derisive smile in a hint of sarcasm and continued, "You're just the same old man, you'll do anything to not deal with your emotions."
"But do you think that'll work?" He was curious and concerned.
"Do whatever you want Tim, just know that I care about you and I want you to be happy. We may not be together but you're the father of my child and I love you, well, not romantically but you're a great person and you deserve to be happy, that's all I can say."
"Thank you," He said to her with a grateful smile and held her hand, "I love you too." They hugged while she led him to the door he bid his goodbyes to Harry and her.
At the Voight residence, amidst the bustling preparations, Timothée's eyes landed on Rebecca, standing among a group of other bridesmaids. Eager to steal a moment with her, he approached, hoping to ask her out on a romantic candlelight dinner date. Rebecca noticed his presence and rushed towards him, clutching her knee-length dress with excitement.
"Well, what do you think of this?" she asked, holding the dress up for his opinion.
Timothée examined the dress, his brow furrowing slightly. "It's a little too long, and perhaps a bit tight-fitting. And why pink?"
Rebecca playfully slapped his hand. "Silly, we agreed on this colour. Don't you think it's beautiful?"
Timothée chuckled, trying to soften his critique. "Well, I suppose it's your average bridesmaid dress. Nothing extraordinary."
Just as he finished his remark, Kevin, always ready with a quick quip, interjected. "You know, you could've just lied."
Timothée shot Kevin a playful glare. "Shut up, Kevin. You know I'm not one for sugarcoating. But let's not forget, amidst all the wedding chaos, we're here to have fun too. Once we're back home, it'll be all work, work, work. So, I've decided," he said, draping his arm around Rebecca's shoulder, "to take you out for a special evening. Just the two of us, a candlelit date at a lovely restaurant."
Rebecca's face lit up with gratitude. "Oh my gosh, thank you! I really needed this." She leaned in and planted a kiss on his lips, her appreciation evident.
Timothée and Rebecca entered the cosy, candlelit restaurant, their eyes filled with anticipation. The warm ambience and flickering candlelight created a perfect setting for their romantic evening. Settling into their seats, Timothée couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. He hoped this date would distract him from thoughts of Floret and allow him to deepen his connection with Rebecca.
As they perused the menu, Rebecca suggested ordering the expensive caviar. Timothée hesitated, admitting, "I've actually never tried caviar before."
Rebecca was taken aback. "You've never tried caviar? Why am I only finding out about this now?"
Lost in his thoughts, Timothée remained silent. Rebecca snapped her fingers in front of him, bringing him back to the present. "What's wrong? You've been acting strange lately. Is there something you want to tell me?"
Timothée replied, "Oh, nothing. I was just thinking about a theory involving ultracold dipolar gases in optical lattices."
Rebecca sighed, frustrated. "You brought me here to escape from wedding preparations and work, and now you're thinking about work? That's not fair, you know."
"Yeah, you're right. Let's order what you were going to order," Timothée conceded.
"Caviar," she reminded him.
