[ MARANELLO, ITALY ]
FEBRUARY 2021

REINA HEADED TO the studio. At first, Reina was surprised to learn that there was an entire photo studio in Ferrari headquarters, but then after consideration, if the building could have heated toilet seats that spoke, then why not a studio?

Today was the day of the shoot. She was a bit nervous, as she wanted to show Lucia her capabilities. Opening the door, Luca was already setting up light fixtures and a small hair and makeup team got ready in the corner.

"Good morning," chimed Reina.

"Good morning," he replied, more focused on putting together a light.

Reina scanned the room. There were a few backdrops in Ferrari's signature colors—red, black, white, and yellow—and loads of standard equipment. At the center of the room though, were Carlos's and Charles's cars for the upcoming season.

Reina slowly approached them, scanning the vehicles with her eyes. They were marvelous, likely worth more than both of Reina's kidneys.

"Wow," she muttered, gently touching the rear wing.

"I know, right?" asked Luca.

After a few more minutes of studying the car, Reina asked Luca, "Where is the other photographer? Marcello?"

Luca shrugged. "He said he would be here... three minutes ago."

Reina frowned. The drivers would not be arriving for another half hour. Not knowing what else to do, she began taking photos of the cars. She took some head-on shots, as well as some detail shots, such as of the steering wheel and the logo. Luca helped her, positioning the lighting for her.

Just then, Marcello walked in.

"Ooh, no, I wouldn't take the picture like that," he commented.

Reina furrowed her eyebrows and slowly stood up to meet his eyes. "Nice to meet you too."

Marcello had blond hair and hazel eyes, with a smirk plastered across his face. He wore a freshly ironed button-up and pants, and Reina knew his type immediately. Smug, careless, and overly confident.

He gave her a fake smile. "Marcello De Bartoli," he said, sticking out his hand.

Reina refused to let herself be scared by him. "Reina Amaral," she said, firmly shaking his hand.

She went back to what she was doing, taking pictures of the cars. She heard him scoff, but ignored him. He wasn't helping, anyways.

After about ten minutes, there was a knock at the door and Carlos and Charles came in.

"Reina, hello," said Carlos.

"Carlos," she smiled. Looking over at the man next to him, she smiled. "Hello, I'm Reina."

"Hello Reina, I'm Charles," he responded. He stuck out his hand, which Reina shook. "I remember you. Your brother is a friend of mine."

Reina nodded. "He's very popular," she remarked.

While the drivers set their things down and got their hair done, Reina relayed some instructions to Luca and Marcello. Luca nodded and got to work, while Marcello yawned, working at a painstakingly slow pace. Reina didn't know what Marcello's problem was, but she wasn't liking him one bit.

Once the drivers were back from hair and makeup, Reina started positioning them, giving them ideas on poses. Every few shots, they would fool around, such as Charles giving Carlos a kiss on the cheek, or Carlos making a silly expression.

It was a great time. Although Marcello kept trying to direct the photoshoot in a serious manner, Reina kept the environment light and friendly. That way, everyone felt comfortable. Eventually, after much nagging, Marcello left altogether.

"Thank God," Charles muttered, thinking no one heard him. Charles hated media days with Marcello.

Reina continued her work, taking some headshots of the two drivers. But, they couldn't keep their focus for more than five minutes. At one point, Carlos picked up Charles, who tried to run, which Luca managed to capture on a video. Everyone laughed, having a wonderful time. Charles took Reina's camera and took a few pictures of her as well, as she jokingly struck poses on the backdrops.

"Maybe I should quit. Be a photographer instead," remarked Charles.

"Ooh, and then I could be the driver!" joked Reina. "I have the tickets to prove my skill."

After a long day of fooling around, Reina finally managed to get enough pictures. She bid the two drivers goodbye, and headed up to her office with Luca to begin editing the pictures.

After discussing with him her top picks, she emailed the pictures to the social media managers, who would post Charles's and Carlos's photos later that day, and the livery pictures next month.

That night, as Reina and Adrian sat and had dinner, he asked, "So, how was your first shoot?"

"Good. Really good."
