Chapter one: A New Beginning
Jake Strong
I pull up to Pinecrest Community High School in my dad's old rusty pick-up truck. After about two months, I got used to the strange looks when I park in the side of the school. Contrary to what my name might suggest, I am not the cool, jock type. I am quite the opposite actually. I enjoy video games and comic books etc. I also have a difficult time when it comes to ladies.
I walk towards my English class, trying my best to keep in the shadows. I never really liked this school. Everyone is automatically categorized in social groups, and some like to think that they run this school. Since I refuse to be categorized, I was considered an outcast. I rarely talked to anybody, unless it was a poor attempt at a comeback to some clever insult.
As I approach the classroom, Amber Stirling was blocking the entrance. She's one of the people I was talking about; the ones who like to think they rule the school. I guess anyone with those good looks can feel like they run the world. Not to mention she slept with every member of the varsity tennis team supposedly. Why tennis? I don't know. You would think something like football or baseball, but no. It seems some people in this actually have some self respect.
Here goes nothing...
"Ummm.... Can you move out of the way, you're blocking the door,"
I muttered, almost a whisper. I didn't want to sound like I was ordering her to. The last guy who did that was so violently destroyed, he had to see a therapist because he got extreme ptsd every time he saw an apple...anyways words can hurt. The last thing I want is for that to happen to me."Tess did you hear something?" she said in the most sarcastic tone. "I could've swore I just heard the voice of a pathetic soul who died old and lonely because it has the confidence of a rat and the sex appeal of a walnut."
"Does that even make sense to you?" Tess whispered to Amber dumbfoundedly.
"Shut up just agree!" Amber snapped quite viciously.
"Yeah you turd! Go hump a rock!" Tess confidently stated, which led to my confused expression. I was dying of laughter in the inside.
"Oh my God, shut up Tess," Amber replied, clearly irritated. "Anyways, you NEVER tell me what to do or I'll slay your social life as if you even have one that is worth me even mentioning." I'd be lying if I said I wasn't hurt.
"Now, I'm going to move over there because I want to NOT because you told me to," she continued with a steady glare fixed on me as she stepped out of the doorway. Afterwards, I tried to get into the classroom as fast as I could.
"He's lucky he's cute," I heard Amber say almost inaudible.
Moments later the bell rang and I was minutes away from having to present my report on Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. I'd like to that I am very much ill-prepared due to the hours I've spent playing overwatch. It's like you get in a game at 3 and look up it's 10pm.
"Alright class, let's get started with the speeches. Jake Strong, you are up first," Ms. Spencer said very slowly and deep. It was almost like she was hungover. I just might pull this off.
Right when I was at the makeshift podium, my mom bursts into the room.
On second thought, screw this speech and the ratchet woman who assigned it.

Science Fiction"Can I sit with you?" Jake asked me with a crooked smile. Why? He looked pretty comfy sitting at the table with the coolest people in school. Maybe he realized how horrible the popular crowd really are. Part of me wanted to turn him away, but then I...
