My mistake (Gwiles)

Chapter 1

Gwen's P.O.V
I was standing on the rooftop, about to enter the portal. 'What did I do?! I have to save Miles if it's the last thing I do! I promised his parents.' I thought to myself, knowing that my promise to his parents wasn't the only reason I was doing this.

"Gwen, you okay?" Peter asked.

"No, we shouldn't have gone along with Miguel. I knew I shouldn't have lied to him. Maybe if we just told him, he wouldn't be stuck in another dimension....." I said, looking down.

We went through the portal and ended up in a Brooklynn that looked like Miles but wasn't. It was much darker. "Where do you think he went, Gwen?" Hobie asked.

"Let's go to his apartment. There may be a clue." Gwen said as she led them to the rooftop of his apartment building, and then they saw the graffiti mural of Jefferson Davies.

"In this universe, there's crime, no Spider-Man...." Peni said.

"Oh, what about his uncle's place." Peter said.

"The closer we get to Miles, our spider sense will tell us." Gwen said as Peter led them to Aaron's place.

"You guys, he might be glitching even more," Pavitr said.

"I still have my locked watch. Once we get him, we can put it on him," Gwen said.

"Okay, on three," Peter said as they prepared to enter. "One. Two. Three!" Peter said as they went through the window.

"What are you guys doing here?!" Miles asked as he glitched.

"Get them!!" Miles yelled as he started attacking Hobie and Peni.

"We'll take care of them free, Miles!" Peter said as Gwen jumped over the fight and released Miles, and put the watch on him.

"That will stop the glitching." Gwen said.

"Miguel is in your universe. He has spiders everywhere, making sure you can't get to your dad. I sent one of them home." Gwen said.

"You think that means I forgive you two?!" Miles yelled.

"I didn't expect you to, but I need to get you home. I promised your parents." Gwen said as Miles disappeared and shocked Aaron and his Earth 42 counterpart, and they were knocked out.

"Let's go before they wake up," Miles said as they went to the rooftop, and Gwen opened a portal to Miles' universe, and they went through it and fell down on Miles' bed.

"Miles?! Gwen?!" Rio asked frantically as she and Jefferson ran into Miles' bedroom.

"Miles, who are these people?" Rio asked.

"It's a long story, but I'm Spider-Man, and another Spider-Man is trying to stop me from saving you, Dad," Miles said.

"Miles, it's a canon event...." Peter said.

"My dad quit." Gwen said.

"What do you mean a Canon event?!" Rio asked.

"In every universe, there are events that every Spider-Man/Woman needs to go through. It makes us into the heroes we are. For me, it was my Uncle Ben." Peter said.

"My Best friend." Gwen said.

"My father." Peni said.

"Uncle Aaron....." Miles said.

"What does this have to do with me?" Jefferson said.

"In every universe, a canon event is a police captain dies." Miles said.

"Jefferson, your going to be a captain." Rio said.

"Miles, I took an oath, and if I die saving the people of this city, then it will be a well-lived life. You have to protect the people of Brooklyn just like I do. We can't always save everyone." Jefferson said.

"Okay...." Miles said as he looked at Gwen.

"Let's give them some space." Peter said, climbing out of the window but got thrown back.

"He knows we're here...." Gwen said as Peter handed Mayday to Gwen.

"Watch her. We'll hold them off." Peter said, jumping out the window as the others followed and started fighting Miguel as Miles' parents left Miles' room.

Gwen looked at Miles. "Miles, I'm so sorry for lying to you about everything. I know I don't deserve you as a friend, and it will take time for you to trust me again. I'm really sorry for not being the friend you deserved, but I hope you find it in your heart to forgive me." Gwen said.

"For some reason, I can't stay mad at you. You might not have done what was right initially, but you did what was right when it counted, so I forgive you guys." Miles said, hugging Gwen.

"Thank you, Miles," Gwen said.

"I'm glad you don't have to lose anyone else," Miles said.

"Miles, if you ever need me for anything, I'll come. You're one of my best friends," Gwen said.

"Mayday seems to be following in Peter's footsteps." Miles said.

"He wasn't supposed to bring her on any more missions. I really don't think he would have come for anyone else, but since it was you, Miles, he came." Gwen said.

"I have to go. They won't last long against Miguel. Watch Mayday. Let me fix the mess I made." Miles said.

"Miles, you are not an anomaly. You are Spider-Man. In every universe, Gwen Stacy falls for Peter Parker, and in every universe, it doesn't end well. You're the exception, Miles." Gwen said, kissing Miles' cheek as Miles left and went outside.

"Miguel!!!! This is between you and me!!" Miles yelled.

"Miles, what are you doing?!" Peter yelled.

"What I should have done in the first place? I won't fight the canon anymore." Miles said.

"I can't risk you messing anything else up." Miguel said, pinning Miles down.

"Miguel! That's enough!" Jess yelled.

"What are you doing?!" Miguel screamed.

"Seeing things from a different perspective. Miles lost his uncle. Then we tell him he will lose his father, and you expect him to act any other way!" Jess yelled.

"We did this in the wrong way." Jess said as she ramped into Miguel, and he flew off Miles.

"What made you change your mind?" Miles asked.

"I'm in a line of work where you don't know what will happen, and I'm going to be a mother," Jess said as the fight ended.
