Chapter 4

Gwen looked down as the doorbell rang. "Okay, I'll try to forgive myself," Gwen said as Rio opened the door.

"Miles Gwen, how are you two?" Hobie asked.

"Was everyone just worried about me? First Gwen, then Peter, now Hobie." Miles said.

"Can you wait like five minutes? My Abuela wants to talk to Gwen and me." Miles asked as his spider-sense went off.

"Dame cinco minutos abuela, I'll be right back." Miles said. "

Miles again with the Spanglish!" Rio said, scolding Miles.

"I know Spanish, Mami. My grade dropped because of my attendance." Miles said, going to his room with Gwen and changing into his suit.

"My grade in English dropped to a B because of my attendance." Gwen said.

"I'll let you change." Miles said, going into the living room.

"You know what? Prove you can speak in Spanish by having one conversation." Rio said.

"Ready!" Gwen said, opening the door as Hobie put his mask on and closed the door and went out the window, and started swinging across the city only to get knocked back.

"Hobie!!!! I told you to handle Spot with the others!!!" Gwen yelled as Miles went after Spot.

"Wait! Don't go after him alone!" Gwen said.

"Look, he's ready." Hobie said.

"No, he's not. He just ate today. He hasn't been eating." Gwen said as she went after Miles.

"You're going to pay!" Miles yelled as Gwen grabbed him back.

"Hobie, go deal with him," Gwen said as Hobie went after Spot.

"Gwen, let me go!" Miles said as Gwen swung onto a building, landing and hugging Miles.

"You're not ready to fight, Spot. Miles, you're still grieving, and you need to take time to process it. It's only been a week." Gwen said as she lifted up her mask and lifted up Miles' mask and saw the tears.

"Gwen, I need to...." Miles said as Gwen wiped his tears under the mask and kissed his cheek.

"Miles, I love you, and I can't let you do this because you are not in the right mindset regarding Spot," Gwen said.

"I love you too, Gwen," Miles said.

"Please stay here." Gwen said.

"Okay, Gwen, I know you're worried, so I'll sit this one out." Miles said.

"Thank you." Gwen said, pulling her mask down, and went to help Hobie fight Spot.

"You two could have spent a lot of time together. I can handle Spot." Hobie said.

"Then why did you come? Miles is already having a hard time. That's why I didn't want him fighting Spot until he was in the right headspace." Gwen said as she kicked Spot.

"Where Spider-Man?!" Spot yelled.

"You're dealing with us!" Gwen said, trying to land a punch.

"Listen, Spot, you're kinda killing the vibe here," Hobie said, attacking as Gwen webbed him up.

"Where are we going to take him?" Hobie asked.

"I don't know, but he needs to answer for what he's done!" Gwen said as she grabbed Spot and swung to the building she left Miles at with Hobie.

"You guys caught him." Miles said.

"Yes, now he's going to answer for everything he's done, including the murder of a police captain!" Gwen said.

"Police Captain, I don't remember a Police Captain." Spot said.

"You don't remember!!!! What about the child he died saving?! Do you remember her?!" Miles yelled.

"No, I don't remember her either." Spot said.

"Guys, we need to figure out a way to ensure Spot doesn't get away." Hobie said.

"Oh, how about we make something that can take away his powers, like special handcuffs." Miles said.

"That's perfect. Let's get to work on that. We can ask Peni to make it. I'm sure she can put make it faster and more efficient." Gwen said.

"Hobie take Spot with you to Peni's Universe so you can put the cuff right on him, then drop him at the station here with a note not to remove the cuffs." Miles said, swinging away.

"He was trying really hard not to punch him. Tell us after you drop him off." Gwen said as Hobie left with Spot, and Gwen was swinging after Miles.

They landed at his bedroom window and went inside. "Hey, are you okay, Miles?" Gwen asked.

"No, but I will be when Spot is finally in jail." Miles said.

"Time for our talk with your grandmother." Gwen said.

"Yeah, my mom is going to force me to speak Spanish because I keep speaking Spanglish." Miles said as they swung back to Miles' house and went through his window.

"Mami ya estamos de vuelta." Miles said, "Miles, no estás herido, ¿verdad?" Rio asked from the living room.

"Are you going to tell her?" Gwen asked.

"No estoy bien mami." Miles said.

"I got my answer." Gwen said, taking her mask off and sitting on Miles' bed.

"Miles you should talk to them and tell them how you're really feeling." Gwen said.

"I know, but I don't want to just until Spot is actually in jail." Miles said.
