My mistake (Gwiles)

Chapter 5

Gwen looked at Miles. "Miles, you were crying. I think it's time to let out your feelings." Gwen said.

"No, not yet." Miles said.

"Hey, you can talk to me, Miles." Gwen said.

"Later tonight on the roof." Miles said.

"Okay, Miles, but nothing is getting you out of telling me tonight." Gwen said as Miles nodded, then did a fake smile and walked out with Gwen.

"So, Abuela, what did you want to talk to Gwen and me about?" Miles asked.

"Your wedding, of course. I know it is a time away, but we must start planning now!" Gloria said.

"Abuela!!! I-W-I-We aren't even dating?!" Miles said, then looked at Gwen.

"Unless you want to," Miles said as Gwen smiled.

"Later," Gwen said with a slight blush on her cheeks.

"Now, Gwen, what kind of wedding dress would you like?" Gloria asked.

"Abuela!!" Miles said.

"I never really thought about it before." Gwen said.

"Well, you do look amazing in white." Miles said.

"If I had to choose, maybe a white dress with subtle pink accents." Gwen said.

"So your suit in a dress?" Miles said.

"My suit is white and black with pink and teal accents." Gwen said.

"Oooh, that would look beautiful on you, Gwen. I can already see it!" Gloria said.

"If you can't tell, I'm her first grandchild." Miles said.

"I'll start working on the wedding binder now!" Gloria said as she rushed home.

"Bye," Miles said.

Miles and Gwen went up to the roof. "I miss my dad, and I don't want them to see me as broken as I've been...." Miles said.

"I meant what I said, Miles. I love you, and I don't want you rushing into fights in this head space, and I really think you need to tell them how you are feeling." Gwen said.

"I meant what I said on the roof too." Miles said.

"To answer your question, yes, I want to be your girlfriend." Gwen said.

"Great! And you really don't need to indulge my Abuela about this wedding stuff." Miles said.

"Am I the first girl she brought this up with?" Gwen asked.

"You're the first girl I took to meet her." Miles said.

"Miles, I really don't mind talking about it." Gwen said.

"Well if we ever do get married, we'll have the whole wedding planned via the binder." Miles said as Gwen kissed Miles.

Miles smiles at Gwen. "What's wrong?" Miles asked.

"It's just that talking about weddings reminded me that my mom wouldn't be there." Gwen said.

"I think they both will be there, Gwen." Miles said as Gwen laid her head on his shoulder.

"Miles, can we just stay like this for a while?" Gwen asked.

"We can stay like this all night if you want to." Miles said.

"Miles do you pray a lot?" Gwen asked.

"I do my fair amount of praying. I've been praying more often since my dad died. Why do you ask?" Miles said.

"I was just wondering." Gwen asked.

"You never wonder about anything." Miles said.

"Well, your grandmother does own a church." Gwen said.

"She does. My mom forces me up every Sunday to go. There's more, Gwen." Miles said.

"Where would your grandmother have the ceremony?" Gwen asked.

"The church it's where my dad and mom got married." Miles said.

"Really, so in some way, he'll be there with you." Gwen said.

"Gwen, you are way to into this wedding stuff." Miles said.

"I'm allowed to get excited about weddings." Gwen said as Miles smiled and laughed.

"That's true. I mean, you only have one." Miles said.

"Unless you get divorced." Gwen said.

"But that wouldn't happen to us." Miles said.

"So you really do want to marry me." Gwen said.

"Well, we just officially started dating, but you know when the time's right." Miles said as his spider-sense went off.

"What's wrong?" Gwen asked.

"I don't know. I'm going to check on my mom. I'll be right back." Miles said.

He went inside and went to his mother's room "Miles?!?!" Rio said, shocked.

"Mami?! What are you doing?!" Miles screamed.

"This isn't want it looks like, Miles!" Rio said.

"It looked like you were about to cut yourself, Mami....." Miles said.

"I'm calling Abuela to stay!" Miles said.

"Miles, you don't have to call my mother." Rio said.

"Then will you promise you won't try this again?!" Miles said.

"Yes, I promise, Miles." Rio said.

"Fine, but if this happens again, I'm telling Abuela!" Miles said as he went back on the roof.

Gwen saw Miles' expression and knew it wasn't good. "What happened?" Gwen asked as Miles sat down.

"My mom was about to cut herself....." Miles said, looking down.

"Oh....Miles...." Gwen said as she hugged Miles.

"I never thought she would try to do this. I knew she wasn't okay but I never thought she would do this...." Miles said.

"Miles let's head back inside okay? We can stay inside to ease your worries." Gwen said as they went into his bedroom.
