Nysa felt like her magic was literally dancing at the tips of her fingers.
Every day, it seemed like she was improving. Already, there was quick progress through the Oath of the Moon, having practised half the spells within the text and would likely be done before the end of the school year. She knew there was still a long, long way to go to be where the pack needed her to be, where Nani expected to be, to be the latest ancestor of the great Anusuya. Being a witch of the Chandran Coven was no simple task. Nysa felt the weight on her shoulders grow each and every day. The fate of the Quileute tribe was quite literally in her hands.
Still, there was no danger to worry about...as of right now.
Something, however, was steadily growing on Nysa's mind. It wasn't do do with magic or the pack, nor was it to do with school work or even her family across the country. It was all about Nysa's upcoming date with Leah Clearwater.
What a shocking turn of events.
Goldie was currently sitting on Nysa's bed, eyes wide and mouth hanging open as she hung onto Nysa's every word. She appreciated that she was a good listener, reactions were always in the right places, comments and advice thrown between Nysa's words every now and then.
"FOR HER COUSIN?" Goldie gasped, jolting up from her comfortable position, practically grasping at Nysa's bedsheets.
"Fuck, I know," Nysa said, corners of her mouth downturned as she straightened her hair.
"And then what?" asked Goldie, eager to hear more.
"Apparently, Emily was also her best friend... everything's making a lot of sense," Nysa explained to her closest friend in Forks.
Goldie shifted her position, looking thoughtfully at her friend, head resting on a hand. "All I'm saying is don't fuck her over, Nysa,"
"How do you even know that?" she said, looking at Goldie's reflection through the mirror.
"Come on," she rolled her eyes, giving Nysa a knowing smirk.
"I literally don't even have this reputation here."
"I don't need to have known you in Jacksonville to know you're a bit of a player."
"I wouldn't do that to her," Nysa said, very quietly, on purpose might she add.
"What was that? Couldn't hear the mumble," Goldie said, perking up to stare at Nysa.
"I said," she started, placing the straighteners down on the counter and turning around to face her. "I wouldn't do that to her."
"Oh my god, she's already in love."
"Shut up, Gold."
"Alfie needs to hear all about this."
Nysa spent the rest of the hour getting ready. It was a humid day yet the threat of thunder clouds still hung overhead, looming ominously as soon as you step outside of your home. She did a simple face, eyeliner sharp to perfection as always and blush creeping to the apples of her cheeks. She donned a pair of jeans with a simple band t-shirt, a cosy, navy fleece jacket over her shoulders and, of course, her lace-up boots.
