Chapter 9 -- The Champion's Challenge

"Shit, shit, shit..." I said over and over again as I ran around my new apartment, trying to get ready before six o'clock came, attempting not to face 'Ella's Wrath' or so a lot of people called it.

"I swear to everything holy, if I happen to the last one there..." I said to myself as I grabbed my bag and shot through my open window and into the pale morning sky on my golden wings.

When I finally got to the guild hall, next to nobody was there. It was probably about two or three wizards that decided to show up early, Colin cleaning the bar, an annoyed Tori and an unconscious Chris.

"Skye!!" Tori squealed as she came up and hugged me, "Surprisingly, Ella's the last one!"

I gave her a small laugh and asked, "Why is, uh, Chris unconscious?"

"That idiot was being was being annoying, so, I knocked the jerk out." She explained bluntly.

I gave her a small sigh and suddenly felt the already-too-familiar icy wind. A very sleepy-looking Ella stumbled into the guild hall, and gave a huge yawn. She half-opened her eyes, caught sight of me, and she instantly lit up.

"Hey, you're the newbie!" She said happily, "Why are you here?"

"Oh, uh... Colin wanted me to come along to make sure that there were no... difficulties..." I told her.

"Well then," She said, smiling, "The more the merrier!!" She turned to Tori and the still unconscious Chris, "C'mon you two, let's head out!" Tori started towards the door, Chris still lay there since he was, well, unconscious.

Ella picked him up by the collar of his blue-and-red t-shirt, shook him and shouted, in a pretty scary voice, "Wake up you idiot!!" Her arm turned to rock and she punched him, hard.

His eyes instantly flew open and he fell to the ground, rubbing his bruising cheek. I stood there like a deer in headlights, shocked from the amount of power she had.

"Right then..." She said, calm once more, "Let's go, shall we?" She started out of the guild, and we all followed.

When we got to the train station, we were all sitting on a bench waiting for Ella to get the train tickets.

"So..." Chris said, turning to me with an uneven stare, "Why are you coming with us Skye?" I quickly explained why, "Hmph!" He scoffed, "Of course Colin would do something like that... bitch usually does..."

Ella came over to us, "The train leaves in exactly ten minutes," She said, "I'll be talking with the newbie until then." She grabbed my arm and practically dragged me.

"What's your name, newbie?" She asked.

"Skye..." I replied.

"Magic?"

"Aera and Opposing."

"Have you been in any other guilds before you joined Shikon Tail?"

"Just one, Fairy Tail."

"Fairy Tail?!" She squealed, "I LOVE Fairy Tail! Especially some of the male wizards in it! They always seem like they're having so much fun and..." I zoned out after a while, but she just kept on ranting.

Finally, the train pulled up and we all got on it, but, when the train started, I was leaning against the window, trying not lose my breakfast.

Ella quickly took note of the situation and invited me to sit next to her. I shakily switched spots with Tori and, like Jay did, Ella socked me in the gut, knocking the wind out of me. I felt half-dead for the rest of the ride, whilst Tori and Chris were trying not to laugh.

When we finally stopped, we were met with a blast of humidity. As I dragged myself out, I realized we were in some sort of jungle town.

"Why the hell are we here?"  Chris asked.

"You'll see," Ella said, "I need to go meet with the client again and tell him that I've gone and gotten help. I'll meet you guys at pub." With that, she left us to go and search out for the pub.

Later, after Ella met with the client again, we were all at the pub, getting some rather tasty drinks.

Ella still refused to explain what the job was, but she said five words that made me wish I was back in Shirotsume, "We're going to the forest!"

Let's just say, I had to rewrite the entire chapter AND learn WattPad's update.

So, I apologize for the lack of chapters for Shikon Tail! I happen to be moving, so that makes it tough on me to crank out chapters for THREE fics (I haven't worked on "Bark or Byte" for a month), and I don't have that much time to write (next week I'll be on vacation to South Carolina).
