Roberts eyes would open to a bright white light, hurting his eyes a bit as they adjusted to the sight he would see in front of him. He was laying on a concrete floor, looking around to see what looked like a city around him. When he looks up, there is a city above him that's upside down, his heart dropped when he realized what it was. The city he was in not that long ago, was flipped upside down and in the sky while he was in a city that directly copied the look of it. There were clouds he could walk on, and massive chains which seemingly held the two cities together. Bystanders started forming around him, looking at him in awe when a voice rang from above.
"Move aside! I must speak with this one!" The voice yelled to the crowd. They all made way for him, a man in all black armor with white wings who floated down with elegance. There was a battle scar along his eye and his hair was in a bun. Robert looked to the man confused as he landed by him.
"I know you must be scared newcomer... but don't you dare worry, this is your new home." The man said with a welcoming smile on his face.
"I need to get back to my job I go-" Robert was interrupted when the man rests a hand on his shoulder. His gaze was calm, a welcoming being who only wanted to make sure Robert didn't panic too much.
"We will discuss this, but you must come with me.. I promise you will understand." He said, putting his hand out to Robert who was nervous at first, but slowly took his hand. The man placed both hands on Roberts shoulders, and he lifted off into the air. Robert looked over the city as they flew around the buildings. It was a majestic view. One that you'd think you'd only witness within a lifetime. They would reach building with a statue of a man with wings wielding sickles in his hands. Once landed inside, the man brings Robert to a balcony where they could look out over the entire city.
"I'll start us off by letting you know, my name is Leon. I'm the head of our operations in this city. People look up to me here." Leon would say, eyeing the people who were flying back into the cloud city from the real city in the sky.
"This is the Afterlife. A place the human race has been getting wrong for centuries though that one boom really does get close.. except for the Jesus stuff but that doesn't entirely matter here... what matters is where your soul ended up." Leon continued, now looking to Robert who was still confused by what he was seeing here.
"What about my soul? My purpose means nothing. Shouldn't I just go to living in the city below? This makes no sense."
"The fact that you woke up where you did means your soul did have a purpose, you just haven't fulfilled it yet." Leon would tell Robert, Robert scoffing and walking away from the balcony. How could he have a purpose? His life was a pointless mess that felt never ending. No man would want to live the rest of their life the way he did.
"Your soul is unlike the others.. they are spirits, but like me, you are what we call a Ghost. A soul who's purpose hasn't yet been fulfilled and must fulfill it to become a Spirit." Robert would look to Leon, wondering if what he said was true. Was it real? Was this all a dream? Only time could tell at this point, and he might as well play along.
"Then what is my purpose here?.. if I do have one I must know." Robert would ask, still confused as to what this was all about.
"That is something only you can figure out.. not me or anyone else. For now you must know your role among all this. Come with me" Leon would lead Robert through the hall, Robert looking over everything. The walls were covered in a diorama showing what looked like armored angels fighting an army of demons of all sizes. At the end of the hall was a room with weapons lining the walls on racks, swords and melee weapons of all shapes and sizes. Suits of armor were enclosed in glass cases, showing what looked like the many armors that the ghosts wore. Leon stops at a case with an interesting armor set, a hooded suit with padded armor along the arms and torso. The pants were also covered in padding with boots that had metal plating along the top of them. The most important piece was the mask, a skull design made to look menacing to whoever he was going to be facing. Robert looks to Leon, looking to him confused.
"What are we even fighting against that requires this much armor and weaponry?" He asked, wondering who the true enemy was here. Leon pointed towards a target, a knife flying out from his sleeve and landing between the eyes of it. The target was in the shape of what looked like a demon. It's eyes red and skin black, cracks along its skin showing the lava flowing within it.
"Beneath Manhattan, lies a civilization of demons who wish nothing more then to take control of the over-world. If it is taken over by those monsters, humanity won't be safe.. and we will perish with them. That is why we are here.. to protect Manhattan." With this news and info not taken into account. Robert now turns his gaze to the armor infront of him. Walking to it and grabbing the mask from inside. He took a long look at it, knowing that now he may have found his purpose. Leon would step away, letting Robert get his armor on. When Leon looked back, he was shocked at just how perfectly the armor suited Robert.
"So.. where do we start first?" Robert asked
