Long ago, there was a witch who lived in the mountains. Enjoying her solemn and lonely life in isolation from the others. She accepted that she would never have children and would never find someone to replace her deceased husband.
Often the witch would travel to the village by flying in the air with her broom, she would travel to the village to help in whatever they needed. If they needed more crops for the people, she would do it. If they needed more heat stones for the winter, she would make them. If they needed more animals to breed, she would call them. If they needed absolutely anything at all.
she would do it to the best of her abilities.
In exchange for her help around the isolated village, the villagers kept quiet of her presence. Because if word got out that they were holding a village in their mountains, their village will sure to be burned to the ground as punishment. Witches have long been hated and since then they have gone into hiding.
Nonetheless the village loved her. And the witch loved the people of the village.
They understood her misery of not being able to have any children, and understood her depression ever since her husband passed away from mysterious circumstances. They never pried into her life and always welcomed her with open arms whenever she visited.
She often came on a specific day of the weak.
Until one day, the old and weak witch decided to surprise the people of the village with a gift. The witch found the biggest pig she could find, fattened him up some more, and cooked him to present to the village as a meal for thanks of welcoming her with open arms. The pig was said to be so big, it could easily feed the people of the village twice.
So the witch went off, she purposely didn't come on the one day she always did to surprise them. She flew down to the village in her magical broom with the day cooked pig behind her with her magic.
The old witch kicked her feet like a child in excitement.
Just as she was getting close to the village, she hid to not hinder the surprise. Planning to surprise them in the meeting hall.
But just as the old witch was making her way to the meeting hall with an invisible spell, she heard the cackling and angry voices of the villagers.
There, the witch learned the truth.
The witch cried as she heard the terrible words they spoke of her. She cried as she left the fat pig on the ground, forgotten and wasted as she fell to the floor in pain and betrayal.
The people of the village turned out to rather dislike the old witch, strongly.
The villagers spoke of how all the witch was good for was for her skills, they spoke of hating having to suck up to her for her magic but did so nonetheless to use her.
Making mocking jokes of her infertile issues, and berating her deceased husband in the process.
The witch cried and cried until...
"And her stupid husband, i'm glad I poisoned him when I get the chance. It's what he deserved for marrying that disgusting witch."
The witches husband that suddenly died one day.
She froze, her eyes going wide in shock.
He was a simple human that she met by chance. The two spent time together as they quickly fell in love and got married, not caring of the fact she was a witch.
Until one day he came home with a terrible fever, the witch did her best to help him with her magic but it was useless.
And he died that same night.
