Waking up the following day you realize that the horrible pain in your chest that haunted you was gone. To your relief, you sit up in the hospital bed seeing Tom who was still sleeping, which was weird considering he was the early bird.

Your phone catches your attention as the screen lights up. It was a text message received from your mother. The relationship with your mother was not a good one. Ever since your father died when you were seventeen, she became a whole different person. She partied daily, got fired, and had a new boyfriend weekly. That wasn't the lifestyle you had wished for. Finally reaching the age of eighteen, being an official adult you moved in with your grandmother for a better life. Without her.

Hearing from your mother was weird. She hasn't called nor texted the whole tour, why now? Did she suddenly start caring about her child, now that she was in the hospital?

"Hello my beautiful child" You read, scoffing at the phone in your hands

"Do you mind helping your dear mother?" You proceed to read. Of course, she reaches out when she needs help.

"I'm in pretty deep shit, can you lend me €500?" €500? What the hell did she do now? You think to yourself, writing your reply.

"Hello Mother, I'm doing amazing, thank you for your concern. I'm totally not in the hospital right now, no no" You write, aggressively pressing your fingers on the screen

"And I will absolutely not be sending you a single penny, it's your shit, not mine" You send the message, putting the phone back on the nightstand.

This behavior of hers was just awful. Why have a child if you don't want to take care of it? That was the question you always asked yourself growing up.

Almost forgetting about the state of your legs you stand up without thinking, which leads to you falling to the hospital ground. Letting out a slight noise you see an agitated Tom sprinting towards you.

-"Are you okay?" He questions while grabbing you by your arms, and leading you to the bed again

-"I'm fine," You say quietly

-"What's wrong?" He asks, sitting down beside you

-"Really Tom, what's wrong?" You turn to him

-"Look at me, I'm a disaster, a total failure" You let out, hitting yourself against the bed

-"Come on y/n, you're not a disaster" He tries to cheer you up

-"You're like the best guitar player ever, after me of course" He smiles, actually succeeding in making you giggle

-"Whatever, jerk," You say jokingly, teasing the big baby

-"And yet you still love me" He claims, scratching his head

-"You wish" You chuckle

The next few hours were nothing special. Multiple nurses paid visits giving you different medications. Tom stayed by your side the whole day which gave you a heartwarming feeling which was dearly missing in your life. This boy was special. He was sitting on the opposite side of the bed staring into his phone screen in peace and quiet.
