Celine Pov

After I ended the call with Noah, I stripped out of his clothes, staring at the red marks scattered over my body. "Are you his personal slut? Taking his dick anytime he speaks?" I snatched up a thick sweater, paired with a cute skirt and tights.

    "Just forget about last night

"Just forget about last night. It was just a slip-up," I whispered to my reflection.

I knew Sophia was asleep, the whiskey doing its job. As I patted concealer onto the light bruises forming on my cheek, I decided to pull my hair into a loose braid, tucking the stray hairs behind my ears before leaving my room.

The stairs creaked with each step, nearly getting me caught by the witch. I could hear her drunken snores as I descended down the whining, wooden slabs. Three more steps, Celine, just three more. Another screech bellowed as my foot made it to the next stair—two more. My heart slammed against the walls of my chest, my blood pumping vigorously as I breathed through my mouth. One. My eyes darted from her passed-out state to the final step. The stairs were close to the door and all I needed was to make it out. I slowly stepped out, my foot nearly to the ground before she groaned, turning in her sleep before I finally reached downstairs. I darted to the door, attempting to keep my noise to a minimum before a voice startled me.

"Celine?" My dad sat on the couch across from Sophia, hidden from view.

"Yeah?" I turned around, feigning innocence.

"Where are you going dressed up so nice?"

"A couple of friends want to go to a cafe. Can I go?"

"I thought your bike was broken?"

"They're taking me," I was practically ripping my nails off as I anxiously picked at them.

"What time are you coming back? I'm cooking dinner."

"Not sure. Probably not that late; I'll text when I'm on my way back."

"Okay, sweetie, stay safe. I love you."

"Love you too," I spared no time going through the door, speedwalking to Noah's car.

I shut the heavy car door, relaxing into the passenger seat while I waited for him. My heart still thrashed inside my chest, the adrenaline being pumped through my veins, making it difficult to control my breath. I could feel myself falling into my mind, each thought becoming more and more terrifying. What if she isn't finished? What if this is just the start of her torment? What am I going to do? God, what the fuck am I going to do? I didn't even notice Noah enter the car until his hand covered mine, momentarily stopping my picking.

"You okay? Did you hear me?" One eyebrow was raised as he looked at me, and his whole body turned in my direction.

"Oh, yeah sorry. I zoned out, haha," I forced a smile on, attempting to deter him from further questions.
