We arrived at his house after we got done with our little make out session. When we pulled up he looked in the mirror trying to fix his hair. Satisfied with how he looked he got out and I followed suit.
I stopped when he went to grab my stuff from the back of his truck. When he had everything he started walking to the door with me following close behind.
Turning the knob he kicked the door open the rest of the way and shouted to his parent.
"Guys I'm home."
The pitter patter of little feet scurrying across the floor was recognized as Bethany. When she saw me standing there with him she ran towards me completely avoiding her brother who was knelt down on the floor with open arms more than likely stunned she ran to me.
"Byron why did it take you so long to-oh." his mom said rounding the corner. I smiled and waved awkwardly.
She smiled back brightly.
"So I'm guessing another thing happened?" She whispered in his ear trying not to be heard. Well she tried.
He whispered back but I didn't have to hear what he was saying. He knew what went on. He grabbed my free hand and I sat Bethany down on the floor. Pulling me up the stairs he sat my stuff down, closed the door and gently pushed me against it.
He got a little closer and grabbed my hips gentle but at the same time tight. He leaned his forehead against mine.
"I don't want this life for you. You deserve so much better," he stopped to kiss me. "And it upsets me I can't give you that." He said his voice breaking noticeably.
I brought my hand up to his face and rested it on his cheek. He moved one of his hands from my waist and held my hand in place.
"I'll be ok Byron. You and I both know that. I'm moving out this week and I'm going to do the paper work. I'm tired of her and I'm not letting her ruin my life anymore than she already has. I'm not doing it. So I want to look for an apartment this week after I do paper work. I'll live there instead of bugging you all the time." He shook his head.
"If you're moving I'm coming with you. I know this place Sophie. You'll get jumped fast. I have to be there to protect you at all costs. Please. I'll pay half of everything. I'm going to get a job and I'm going to do this. I want to do this." He stated. The bright blue irises that stared into my brown ones killed me. He's made it his job, his responsibility even, to make sure nothing happens to me.
With the look on his face it was hard to say no. I hesitantly nodded. He put his hands on my shoulders and rubbed them up and down on my arms. He kissed the top of my head and let one of his arms fall while the other slid to my hand grabbing the tips of my fingers to pull me downstairs with him.
We walked silently until we got to the living room and stood in front of his parents.
"Mom, dad I've gotta tell you guys something," they both stopped doing what they were doing. The look on their face was unreadable. "For Sophie's protection, closure, and relief I've decided I gotta move. Me and her are going to rent an apartment around here. The both of us are gonna get a job and we're going to figure this out. I just need you guys support."
His mom was quick to respond. "I'm fine with it but what do her parents think? Are they going to be alright with it? And protection from what exactly?"
"That's the thing mom. Her mom is what she needs protection from. She's tired of living with her. She doesn't take care of her nor does she care what happens to her. I've got to be there when she needs me mom. I'm willing to do anything for her." He finished. I'd be lying if I said I didn't just feel my heart break. It's like the truth of my mom and the fact he cares so much in so little time just hit me like a ton of bricks.
I looked to his mom and her eyes were welt with tears. "Ok. Your father and I will pay first months rent. You guys need to be careful. If her mom's psycho you'll need to watch your backs. " she stood up and hugged the both of us.
We hugged her back and she pulled back after a minute or so. She just looked at us before finally kissing the top of his head (she had to stand on her tip toes) and then my cheek. Before she pulled away she whispered something in my ear. "Take care of my baby boy." I nodded my head and hugged her tightly.

It was getting to be a bit late, and we had school tomorrow. That didn't mean we cared. We walked down the street hand in hand heading to the park at like 11:30 at night.
Walking silently we came to the little bridge that went over a little stream of water from the pond beside us. I led him to the corner of it and just rested my elbows on the wood. It was a beautiful night. The stars shown bright like diamonds and the moon was full.
He walked up behind me and wrapped his strong, tanned arms around my small waist. His chin rested on my shoulder until he nuzzled it into my neck planting a small kiss there and picking his head back up to where it started.
"Why do bad things happen to good people?" I asked. The sad part to this was my mom will disown me or she will send someone to make sure no one knows what happened to me.
"There's always an upside to things Soph. Don't quit on me now." He whispered back his voice shaky. He actually thinks he'll lose me. I leaned back into him for a minute to just let him hold me. The one person who finally saw him for who he was, he was afraid to lose.
I pulled back and walked to the center of the bridge and laid there with Byron following suit. His arm found its way around my waist again and pulled me into his side. I rested my head on his shoulder and my hand on his chest.
I don't know how long we were there for but it was long enough to let the both of us fall asleep.

A loud alarm was the cause of me jumping awake. Literally. I was up and on my feet in less than five seconds. I looked down at my boyfriend who only stirred. Heavy sleeper much?
I sat down and started shaking him while I screamed in his ear to wake up. His eyes jolted open and he did some kind of ninja move to get up.
"Well nice to see you sunshine. We gotta go back to your house to get ready for school."
"Or....," he said pulling me by my hand to stand closer to him, "we could skip today and look at some apartments."
Well it wasn't a bad idea
