Apartments

It's noon. We've seen fourteen apartments. Haven't liked any of them. They've either been too much out of the price range we had to set, which was around 300 a month, or they were just ugly in general.

I'm pretty sure Byron was just wanting me to pick one already. Probably tired of walking around considering we have been since nine.

"Babe you know you're my girl and all but I really wish you'd stop being picky." He said sounding irritated.

"None of them had that homey feel to them. That's what I'm looking for. It's not what it looks like. I just want it to feel like a home." he groans and I smiled to myself. He'll thank me later.

We walked up to the last one for today and as promised the man who was supposed to meet us was standing on the doorsteps.

"Good afternoon Mr. and Mrs. White." he beamed.

"Um we're just dating. My last names Hamilton." I said a bit embarrassed but knowing that I shouldn't be.

His cheeks turned a light shade of pink and he spoke up again. "I'm so sorry Miss Hamilton. Let's go inside shall we?" He said scrambling to open the door.

As soon as I caught sight of the apartment I fell in love. The white and red walls were beautiful even tho they were plain. Turning the corner into the living room there was a small fire place next to were I was planning to eventually put a TV.

I turned to Byron and grabbed his forearms with excitement. I nodded and whispered. "I love it. It feels as homey as I wanted it to feel and it is absolutely beautiful. It just has to be in the price range." His eyes lit up his mind probably screaming the words "finally".

I looked at the salesclerk. "How much is it a month?" He looked at his clipboard and brought his head back up to meet my gaze.

"$350 a month ma'am. If it's too much I'm sure we can negotiate." I shook my head.

"It's perfect. We'll take it."

After all the paper work we walked into his house and into the living room. He sat down on the couch pulling me onto him making me sit on him. I rested my head onto his shoulder and sighed closing my eyes.

"You realize before you can move into that apartment you have to fill out the paperwork to leave your moms house right?" He wound up asking after awhile of us sitting there. I groaned.

"We'll do that later. Right now I just want to rel-" loud banging came from the door. Oh shit. I think she found me.

"SOPHIA ISABELLA HAMILTON OPEN THIS DAMNED DOOR NOW." His mom came out of the kitchen and raised an eyebrow at me pointing towards the door

Not wanting my mom to hear me, even tho she knew I was in here, I mouth 'my mom'. His mom gave that look where it was a mix of like 'I'll be damned if I let that happen' and 'oh really'. She marched her way towards the door and opened it. Bless her.

"May I help you?" His mom asked sassily.

"Cut the shit Mary. Give me my daughter and tell that son of yours if he ever touches her again I'll have him arrested." Wait what?

"Arrested for what Hannah? Loving Sophie? Treating her like she's the most fragile thing on this earth? Or caring for her more than you have?" Next thing I know my mom slapped her. I jumped from the couch, out of Byron's lap and walked to Mrs. White's aid.

"What the hell mom?" I said not looking at her but the woman that was holding her face.

"You're coming home with me and you're not going to argue about it." She stated. I turned to her.

"I'm eighteen mother. Eighteen! That means I'm a legal fucking adult! Get the hell off this property before I call the cops. And I will be getting my stuff from your house. If I have to I will get a police escort. Good bye mother." I said slamming the door in her face.

I could not believe her.
