Then the door opened.

Three men came in, of about nineteen: one with  unruly light brown hair in curls and a old red jumper; one with brown hair and a streak of green; one with mousy hair and a navy t-shirt.

"Hi." said the man in the red. "I'm Grian, and we're cousins." Scar couldn't believe his eyes! His mum was scared of this man? This man... who was his cousin? He didn't look dangerous. "And this is Joel, and Jimmy." He gestured first to the man with green hair, then to the man in navy. "What's your mum told you 'bout us?

"She... I'm..." Scar faltered, but it seemed like honesty was the best policy here. " She said you were a bit... rebellious."  He decided not to mention them being dangerous, just in case they decided to prove it.

"Hah! Did she?" remarked Joel with a grin. "She used much stronger words that that when she was talking to— mff!" Grian had clamped a hand over Joel's mouth.

"These kids don't know about what's going on outside!"

"Yeah, keep it down, Joel" Grian agreed.

Scar had just noticed two unusual things about Grian. The first thing was a strange, shiny bracelet of- he didn't know. "What's that?"

"That?" answered Grian, a wicked grin on his face. "That, my cousin, is a Totem."

"Wait- no way." asked Bdubs. "But-but they're really rare. Supposed to prevent death!"

"Yeah, it does." replied Grian in a bored voice. Nicked it off a- thingy." Scar was sure he had nearly revealed something he wasn't supposed to.

"How?" questioned Bdubs, still shocked. "They're meant to be really well guarded? What's your weapon?"

The weapon was the other thing Scar had seen. It was a short, straight sword hanging from a simple black leather belt with no sheath. He either didn't have one, or he wanted to show off. Scar thought the latter was more likely. The sword itself was of a strange, iridescent black metal, and carved into the handle were strange symbols. As Grian drew it with practiced ease, it was Scar's turn to feel shocked.

( yeah ik a netherite sword isn't canon but I'm an author :) )

"You're missing a finger!"

"What- oh, yeah." said Grian, sounding like he hadn't wanted that subject to crop up in conversation. "Lost it.. in battle. Anyway, my sword."

"What metal is it? I've never seen anything like it before!" Bdubs was in... admiration?

"Netherite. Enchanted." he replied, just as they heard Cleo's voice. "Scar? Bdubs?" I think it's time you let your cousins be on there way.

"Okay, mum." Scar didn't disagree. He was frightened of them, and wanted them to go.

"But... fine." Bdubs was clearly in admiration of these men, and Scar didn't like it.

(Wow, two updates in one day? Rare...)
