That was when they heard the doorbell ring
Cleo seemed to know who it was. "Oh great." She murmured. "Already?" A shout came from the door.
"Guys, come on! They've built above you! Quick!" Scar recognised it as Joel's voice. He still did not trust him, but he trusted Cleo. "I'm gonna go and get Scott. Grain's gonna take you guys."
"Mom, what are they doing?"
"They're gonna try and get us to a safe place. Now, go! I'll be with you in a sec." She shoved him and his brother outside, where their cousin was waiting.
"Follow me." he hissed. "And be quiet." As they were under the bridge, there was a loud BANG! He looked at the tower they had lived in for so long. It was ruined. Gone.
"No!" Scars younger brother screamed, then covered his mouth. But G didn't seem to care. He was staring at the remains of the tower as well.
"She's gone." he said finally. "Killed by her sister. My mum."
"Who? What?" Scar didn't understand. Then his cousin pulled out what looked like a phone, and opened it.
"This is a communicator." he said quietly. "It tells you what's happening. And-look." He showed them the most recent message.
<ZombieCleo was blown up trying to escape Pearlescentmoon.>
"Mom? No, but.. how? Hang on, why do you care? You put the message saying you would kill her." He looked at him blankly. "Message? Dyou know what, never mind. Come in, we're there." There turned out to be a small alcove under the bridge. "Hang on- wait." Grian got out his com again and looked. "Yes." He whispered. Scar peered over.
<Smallishbeans left the game>
<smajor left the game>
"What does that mean?"
"It means." he said, pulling off his jacket. "that they're safe."
"Wait- what?"
"No time. Hold my wrist." They thought it was a little strange, but did it anyway. As their cousin brought his hand up to the lifesaver, a small green orb flew above their heads and landed right on top of it.
