The world is obscure. Ashes and hot air spread across the planet, fulminating and pressing a suffocating blanket on the earth below. Volcanoes rumble and bubble, blowing their tops and pouring molten rock into every space. Only death roams the land, swinging its sickle at any sign of life. But there is hope, deep below the earth where land is still fertile, hidden away from the poisonous fumes of the overworld.

Here lives a tribe: a population of elementals whose powers have kept them alive for centuries. Together, they dug tunnel systems, built houses and grew crops. They cast barriers and placed protective charms in the tunnels, keeping the walls from collapsing with each volcanic quake. Somehow, they had made a living without ever seeing the light.

"Lunaris! Lumus! Lussios! So help me, or I will throw you all inside an erupting volcano!"

The triplets vanished, fleeing the man before he could chase after them. Nexus groaned, about to pull his hair out when someone entered his shop. His mood didn't improve once he saw who it was.

"Last time you came here, the world was ending," he said. "Why is the great Zephyr visiting my humble shop?"

"We've received an oracle," Zephyr said grimly. Nexus' tapping fingers froze above the counter.

"On a scale of one to death, how bad is it?"

"Death," Zephyr sighed. "The Dracaena twins are planning to summon the Elder Dragon."

Nexus resumed tapping the counter. "Alright, was Caedos advised?"

"Nox told him shortly after, yes."

"To no one's surprise, the old man keeps me out of it," Nexus scowled. He held up a finger, silencing Zephyr as he thought. He tried making sense of the events in his mind, and nothing came together. Their most significant events of volcanic activity dated back a few decades, and none of the known magma chambers had expanded. The earth elementals had even confirmed that their largest volcano, Mount Obsydia, was still dormant.

None of this is adding up, Nexus thought.

"What do you suggest we do?" Zephyr asked him. "The council is already getting restless."

"A little stress won't kill them," Nexus rolled his eyes. "Although, the old Umber might start foaming at the mouth if we keep him waiting too long. I'll talk to Caedos tonight."

"Thank you, Nexus," Zephyr bowed. "I owe you three so much already."

"That you do," Nexus said, snapping his fingers. A scroll appeared in his hands, and he examined the contents. He frowned. There was abnormal activity at the burial grounds. Usually, this wouldn't be a concern, but with news of the oracle, it wasn't reassuring.
