Chapter 2 - Return Me Back (Monday)

Clark Romanson stood before the executives of the company, facing Luise Benedick, the owner. "Clark Romanson, can you still talk properly?"

He held his jaw for one moment "Yes, Sir... I can, "he assured him.

"Good, you are 20 minutes late. So please give me a good proposal to lighten my mood," Luise said as he crossed his legs.

As Clark glanced at Ledet, he found solace in her encouraging gesture of two thumbs up, silently wishing him luck. Gathering his composure, he introduced himself and began his presentation, meticulously going through the features and benefits of their product. The room was filled with executives, their eyes fixed on him, evaluating every word and slide of his presentation.

As Clark concluded his presentation, he noticed a change in the executives' expressions, shifting from skepticism to excitement. They began discussing the potential revenue and possibilities that their product could bring. Luise stood up, walked towards Clark, and clapped his hands. "It was good. I was intrigued," He looked at them one by one. "I can tell that you and your team really planned this." He offered his hand to shake.

"Thank you, sir. I can't do this without them," Clark replied gratefully, glancing at Ledet and silently mouthing a 'yes.' The five of them shared a heartfelt embrace, a moment of celebration for their collective achievement.

With the meeting concluded, Mr. Luise dismissed everyone and left the room. Ledet playfully teased Clark, remarking, "Not bad for a new CEO."

Clark powered down his laptop and gathered his belongings, he couldn't help but jest, "Are you in love?" looking at Ledet with a mischievous smile.

Ledet let out a genuine laugh and rolled her eyes. "Oh, please. Don't flatter

yourself, Clark," she replied playfully. "But I am genuinely impressed. You really knocked it out of the park with that presentation."

Clark couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for Ledet's support. "Thank you, Ledet. It was truly a team effort," he acknowledged, recognizing the invaluable contributions of his colleagues.

As their conversation shifted, Ledet's curiosity got the better of her. "By the way, about the girl that you helped, how is she?" she whispered, her concern evident in her voice.

His expression turned somber as he replied, "I don't know. I never got her number. The police handled her when you called."

"That was very manly of you, Clark," she commended, recognizing his bravery and selflessness.

Clark let out a sigh, his fatigue evident. "I'm just tired of hearing about this in the news. I just hope the police will have a lead and catch all of them soon,"

She nodded in agreement. "I hope so too. But for now, let's celebrate the success of our proposal," she called out to the other three members to come with them.

They went out for dinner and drinks with the team to celebrate their victory. As they were having a good time, Clark's phone rang. It was an unknown number. He excused himself and headed outside the bar. Ledet was curious who it was so he followed him behind silently.

St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department 9am

"Miss Janah," Jereck said, his voice calm and reassuring. "I need you to talk to us. We're here to help you."

Detective Gomez stepped forward, her presence offering a sense of safety. "Please take a deep breath and try to relax. We assure you, you're in a safe environment. By sharing your story, we can work together to bring this man behind bars. Can you provide us with a detailed description of the person?"
