Chapter 1

Jimin could smell the oncoming blizzard. All of them could. They had yet to have a snowfall this winter but the chill in the air was so much so that it seeped into your bones no matter if you were in your human form or wolf form.

Jimin had figured that the reason why the pack was gathered in the clearing where their head Alpha, Sejin, made announcements, had to do with the upcoming blizzard. Jimin hoped just like he knew the rest of the pack that the head Alpha and the council had come up with a plan to help them get through the blizzard with minimal casualties. He knew that the last blizzard to hit the territory they shared with the Jeon Pack wasn't taken as seriously as it should have been and as a result many lives were lost. Neither pack had fully recovered from those losses despite them occurring nearly a decade ago.

"The blizzard will be upon us soon." The head alpha spoke loudly so that all of his pack could hear him.

Jimin could hear the murmurs of those gathered around him, all variations of worry.

"I know that some worry that we will be faced with a similar situation as the last blizzard that occurred a decade ago. I can assure you that that will not be the case. The council and I have come up with a plan that we feel will be beneficial for all that live in the territory."

"What does that even mean?" Someone near the front asked, voicing Jimin's thoughts aloud.

"It means that we are further cementing our trust with our neighboring wolves, the Jeon Pack. Both their head Alpha and I believe that a merging of the packs for the duration of the blizzard will be beneficial for the packs. We'll be able to share resources and minimize any losses."

"How can that be? They are a week's journey from us." Someone else in the crowd called.

"They are, but they are a smaller pack than our own which is why they will begin the journey to our pack in a week's time."

"Where will they stay?" Jimin asked out loud among the crowd.

"They will stay in the homes that we will build for them."

Jimin could hear those around him grumble unhappily at having to use their resources to build homes that weren't even permanent.

"I know that some of you find this a waste of our resources, but in return the Jeon Pack will be sharing their supply of food and healing herbs with us in exchange for providing them shelter. While our strength lies in our ability to build theirs is in hunting. Even now as I speak, they have a hunting party out to gather what is needed so that all have enough food to made it through so that no one starves like in the past."

"When do they arrive?" Another wolf called out of the crowd.

"The blizzard is projected to hit in one month's time. They will make the journey to our encampment in one week's time arriving a couple weeks before the blizzard itself. This will allow the packs to settle and get acclimated to each other before the blizzard hits. It will also give us the time needed to build the homes for our guests to stay. Everyone will be pitching in as we need to build at least twenty cabins for their pack. We will get started today so see the council members for your assigned duties."

The head Alpha's tone left no room for disagreement and the pack split apart forming lines that led to the various pack council members. Jimin himself got in line as well. As Jimin waited in line he wondered about the Jeon pack. He had heard stories of their hunting prowess, so it made sense to him that they would seek their help in that area. While they were not bad hunters, by any means being able to supply their packs' needs adequately, they prided themselves on their ability to build. They needed to considering the size of their pack. While the Jeon pack required twenty cabins to accommodate them, the Park pack required somewhere over forty to house all those that belonged to the pack. It hadn't always been like that though. The number disparity between the packs. Before the previous blizzard the Jeon pack was as large as theirs. Maybe even a little larger.
