The Nature Hashira

Chapter 1: Assistance

Miyaki was walking at night in the forest in Mount Natagumo as usual. She likes to walk in the forest as it gives her peace in this conflicted world. It also reminded her of her days of patrolling as the Nature Hashira. She missed those as they were peaceful but fun when she was able to fight the demons without having to worry about being a demon herself. She loves nature dearly and would do anything to protect or appreciate it. She didn't want to lose that spark of hope nature holds.
Eventually, while she was doing her daily walk at night, she spots a young demon slayer injured by another demon. She recognized the demon immediately when she saw the eyes. It was Lower Moon 5, Rui. Her eyes widened a little at seeing the blood demon art of Lower Moon 5. She saw the number of injuries the demon gave to the demon slayer. She looked up to see another demon hung up by spider webs. She knew that the demon slayer was young and Miyaki didn't want him to die. She assumed that demon must have been related to the demon slayer. She runs to aid the demon slayer as she sees that he's in critical condition.
"Are you alright, young one?" she asks the demon slayer with worry in her eyes. She crouches down to look at the demon slayer's condition closely.
"I'm alright! I'll be okay." the demon slayer smiled as he said that to her.
"You aren't okay, here let me help you.", she whispered to him. She was concerned for him as she opened up her double-sided spear from her double-sided scabbard and got in front of the demon slayer. The demon slayer gets shocked when he sees that she had a double-sided spear.
"You can fight? You're a demon slayer? But how? I thought demons aren't supposed to be demon slayers.", he commented. Her eyes widened at him even knowing about her being a demon.
"H-how do you know I'm a demon?", she stuttered out of shock as she was disguising herself as a human and it was the first time in centuries that someone other than the Ubayashiki family line knew of her being a demon.
"Your scent is of a demon's scent," he explained to her.
"Very well then, if I may ask, what's your name, young one?" she asks.
"Tanjiro Kamado...", he answered weakly.
"And the demon that I'm seeing hanging on the spider web?" she asks.
"My sister, Nezuko Kamado." he answered with a voice filled with pain.
She turned to face the demon in front of her with a cold, serious face.
"I'll handle him," she said as she leaped up and uses her Nature Breathing to slice the webs formed by Rui for his Blood Demon Art, Cutting Thread Cage.
    She lands as she faces Rui with a cold, menacing stare while drawing her spear toward Rui. The Water Hashira, Giyuu Tomioka, arrived just on time and got in front of Miyaki, and looked back to face Tanjiro and Miyaki.
"Leave the rest to me.", he said to the two.
She nods as she let him deal with Lower Moon 5 while she cuts the webs free from Nezuko with her spear and caught her in time to set her to the ground. Giyuu did the 11th form of Water Breathing, Dead Calm, cut the webs flawlessly, and even cleanly sliced the neck of the demon. After finishing the job, he turned back to face Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Miyaki.
"Who are you?" Giyuu asked Miyaki with an emotionless expression while his voice sounded like he was confused.
"You can just refer to me as Miya and I assume you are the Water Hashira, Giyuu Tomioka, am I correct?", she asked while tending to Tanjiro's brutal injuries.
"Yes, I am. Miya, are you a part of the Demon Slayer Corps? You seem to have recognized me," he asked.
"Yes, I am a part of the Corps and indeed I have recognized you." she blatantly said without any thought.
"Why is your uniform different from all of our uniforms? We all have the standard uniform and if not, some form of the standard uniform. Why is your uniform different?", Giyuu asked with a stern voice.
She was finished tending to Tanjiro's injuries with her medical kit she always had with her and Nezuko healed with her regenerative abilities. She was thinking of how to respond to his question as she didn't want to tell him she was a demon and what she was wearing was the old uniform of the Demon Slayer Corps from very long ago. Only Tanjiro knew that she was a demon and she wanted to keep it that way for now. She got up and looks at Giyuu in the eyes and answered him with a soft-spoken voice.
"This is because of my liking of wanting to wear something different. I didn't like the standard uniform, which is why I'm wearing a different one.", she lied as she made the story up to cover her truth. Giyuu still wasn't convinced but Tanjiro started to talk.
"Miya...", Tanjiro called out to her.
"Yes, Tanjiro? Is there something you need?" she asked with concern in her eyes as she looks at Tanjiro's condition.
"Can you please put Nezuko in the box...?"
    She nodded and puts Nezuko into the box and closed it. Miyaki was checking her surroundings as Giyuu was looking at her with an emotionless expression and she senses a Hashira coming close by.
    "A Hashira is coming...I don't know who though...can you sense that, Tomioka?", she asked.
"Yes, I can sense that.", he agreed.
