Mon, unfortunately, did not get to return Sam's jacket to her. She contracted a rather nasty stomach bug.

She spent the entire day at home until a rather loud knock came to her door around noon. Mon approached the door with caution. She wasn't expecting any guess and her friends wouldn't knock.

She stood on her toes and looked through the peephole, and outside of her apartment stood...Sam.

What was she doing here?

Did she need her jacket back that badly?

Mon opened the door a few seconds later.

"Have you been to the Doctor?" Sam asks, she puts her wrist up to Mon's forehead to check the younger woman's temperature and Mon almost melts.

She didn't know what it was about Sam that made her feel this way. She felt giddy. She felt everything good about the world.

"How did you find my apartment?" Mon asks.

It's probably a dumb question and with the way Sam looks at her, she assumes as such.

"The papers that you filled out when you got hired?"

"Oh."

Sam keeps her wrist on Mon's forehead for another moment before moving it away and in that brief second she notices something.

Sam's soulmate mark.

It's....it's the same as her's.

Well. Shit.

"You don't have a fever," Sam says. "Are you going to invite me inside?"

Mon steps aside and Sam walks into her apartment.

"Lady Sam, um," Mon chuckles nervously. "Why are you here?"

Sam looks at Mon for a moment. "My jacket."

Oh.

Right.

She doesn't believe in soulmates.

The room goes silent for a moment before Sam speaks again.

"Also to make sure you were still living," She says. "I would hate to have to work with someone else."

Mon nods. "I'll go get your jacket, Lady Sam."

"Wait..." Sam pulls a bag out of her purse. "This is for your stomach. I brought it for you."

"You didn't have to do that."

"The Pharamcy was on my way over here."

"Where are you coming from?"

"The Italian restaurant," Sam answers. "I was having dinner with my friends."

Mon knew that the Italian restaurant was near her apartment. She could never afford to go there but she was also aware that the pharmacy was on the other side of town.

Mon walks into her room and grabs Sam's jacket. She hands it to the CEO and their hands brushes. Mon swears she felt sparks.

They stare at each other for a few seconds, Sam's eyes drift down towards Mon's lips.

Sam clears her throat. She takes her jacket and then leaves Mon's apartment without saying goodbye.

Mon is freaking out.

She doesn't know what to do, so she calls Yuki and Nop.

They meet up a local cafe and they notice how nervous Mon is.

"I think Lady Boss sucked her soul," Nop says.

Yuki reaches across the table and squeezes Mon's hand.

"She's my soulmate."

"What?" Her two friends say simultaneously

Yuki shrugs. "Actually, that would explain her odd behavior."

"She doesn't believe in soulmates," Mon says. "What do I do? It's not like I can tell her. She probably wouldn't care."

"Probably?" Nop asks with a scoff. "She wouldn't care. In fact, I'm willing to bet she would laugh in your face."

"I think she cares," Yuki says, brushing off Nop's comments. "She just doesn't know how to show it. Maybe she has social anxiety."

Ignoring  Nop's clear annoyance, Mon and Yuki continue to theorize about the situation.

They don't come up with anything and Mon is left feeling more confused than when she started.

She's walking home with Nop. He seems rather ill. Annoyed. Displeased. Mon is at a lost as to why.

Sure, many people don't date their soulmates, but she honestly would much rather remain single than date Nop. They're friends. That's all that they're ever going to be.

"Are you going to tell her?" He ask.

Mon shakes her head. "I'm not sure."

The next day at work, Mon feels like she wants to jump off the roof. Sam is being overly nice and she's reading into it too much and she wants to rip her hair out and....

"Mon," Sam calls.

She looks worried.

"If you're not feeling better," Sam says. "I can take you home."

Mon forces a smile. "I'm feeling great."

How do people act around their soulmate?

Probably not like this. Even Mon is cringing at herself.

"You look like you're about to puke," Sam says. "How about we continue this later?"

Mon nods. "Okay, Lady Sam."

Mon exits the office and gets strange looks from her coworkers. She just smiles at them and walks over to her desk.

She doesn't know if she can normal around Sam anymore.

She doesn't know if she can keep it from Sam.

She doesn't know anything.
