Mon stares at her laptop screen, the blue light burning holes into her eyes. She blinks for a second and rubs her eyes. She feels like her head is about to explode. She and Sam have been working for hours yet..

Nothing.

Absolutely nothing, and she's about to lose her mind.

Being this close to Sam...

It's nice.

But at the same time, she feels as if her heart is about to jump out of her chest.

It makes her sweat; her thoughts are all over the place. Because she is alone with Sam in her house. This is where the lady boss sleeps, where she eats, and where she exists as a person outside of the office.

Mon questions why she's here.

Due to her honestly sweating enough to make a man-made lake, she takes off her jacket. Forgetting that she has the same exact soulmate mark as Lady Sam.

She wipes her brow and accidentally sighs in frustration.

"Do you need a break?" Sam asks.

Her voice is soft.

It always is when they're alone.

She's not the scary CEO; instead, she's just Sam.

Mon wonders if she's the only person to see Sam like this.

"No," Mon responds. "I'm fine."

She isn't.

Sam rubs her wrist. "Let's take a break for a moment."

"I'm getting nowhere," she says. "And it looks like you aren't either."

"I'm getting somewhere." Mon grumbles.

Sam narrows her eyes and stares at Mon, almost as if staring into her soul.

"Are you?" She questions. "What do you even mean with that statement?"

Mon just shrugs. She closers her laptop, and that's when she hears a rather loud gasp from the CEO, but she tries to cover it up as if she had been coughing.

"Is something wrong, Lady Sam?" Mon asks.

Sam shakes her head. "No."

Sam gets up from her sitting position, putting her laptop down. She closes her eyes.

"Did you know?" She asks after several moments of tense silence.

Mon felt uneasy at how Sam was basically towering over her, trying to show off dominance because she was scared. Mon didn't want to back down, however.

"Know what?" She asks, playing coy.

"You know, don't you?" Sam asks. "Is that why you're nice to me?"

"I'm nice to everyone, Lady Sam," Mon points out. "Plus, in your own words, the mark doesn't actually matter."

The two stare at each other for a moment. It is as if a game of cat and mouse is being played. Sam nods and hangs her head down.

"What if it did?" She mumbles.

"It could," Mon replies. "You just have to mean it,"

"I still wish to remain to just being friends for now," Sam says. "However I am open to exploring this, I just have to get over myself first."
