"I WILL ADMIT THAT WENT BETTER THAN EXPECTED. DON'T YOU agree?"

"What?"

"Our trip you know the job your getting paid for. It went smoothly. For a moment I thought I might have to beat the shit out of Judas. He really looked like he wanted to take a bite out of you. He is young though. I think he's like five in demon years. Like he's a recent deceased soul."

None of what he said about Judas made sense.

"But it went smoothly for me as well. Xan not being there is a small setback, but Vanna can be mature except her whole holding my father against me thing. She acts like I like him, or he likes me." Lazarus mused.

My brooding overseeing the three and the thought of being afraid of them came to an end with Lazarus's words.

Vanna had mentioned Lazarus was Lucifer's son. It was like a hot iron poking at me. But seeing the three had been a cold splash of water making me ignore it. But now it was back.

The very man who had caused all of this was the father of Lazarus. Lucifer had been the one to send Gadreel out.

"Did Lucifer send you here?" I asked.

Lazarus looked over at me. "Excuse me?"

"Did Lucifer send you here, are you like his trump card for me?" I demanded.

Lazarus looked over at me his eyebrows raised. While I remained uneasy and accusing, he remained calm and almost amused.

Then he laughed.

"Wow, so you must be the woman I've heard about." Lazarus mused.

"What?" Now it was my turn to be confused.

"I don't talk to my dad much. But I have heard he was searching for some woman. I didn't think it was you though. He doesn't tell much, and he definitely wouldn't tell me about someone with angel ancestry he was looking for." Lazarus grinned at me.

"So... he didn't send you here?" I asked.

"No, my father didn't send me here to collect you. He has a bit more class than that. If he wanted to have someone come, get you he'd send one of his fallen watchers. Also, for me to be doing it we'd have to be on talking terms which we aren't. You have nothing to worry about from me. I have no intention on dragging you back to my dad. If anything, keeping you away from him is much more entertaining." Akor mused.

Maybe I jumped to a conclusion.

Today has been a stressful day.

"Why didn't Akor tell me?" I asked.

"Did Akor tell you who his dad is?" Lazarus asked.

"I know he's a king of hell, he might've mentioned his name, but I don't pay attention much when he's talking." Now that was dumb fucking thing to admit.

Lazarus's amused gaze made it worse. "Do you find him boring when he talks?" Lazarus asked.

"No, I—um, just forget it." I murmured.

Lazarus's grin widened. "His dad is King Asmodeus. The king of lust. Fortune's is King Mammon, the king of greed, and our last brother Laron's father is King Leviathan, king of envy." Lazarus thankfully switched the topic.

I don't want to explain to Lazarus on how I'm too busy checking out Akor to focus on what comes out of his mouth.

Being gifted in distraction seems to be common amongst the three. Fortune is hard to concentrate on as well. Hers is much more embarrassing for me and slightly shameful. It's reminding me a lot of high school. And then there is Lazarus.
