Doc blew up the opening to a cave.
"Whoa. I think you woke up the dead with that blast." Marty said.
"Tale this camera. I want to document everything!" Doc handed Alex a camera.
Inside the cave, they were using flashlights trying to find the spot where the DeLorean is hidden.
"This reminds me of the time I attempted to reach the center of the earth. I'd be reading my favorite author, Jules Verne. I spent weeks preparing for the expedition, I didn't even get this far. Of course, I was only 12 at the time. It was the writings of Jules Verne that had a profound effect on my life. I was 11 when I first read 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. That's when I realized that I must devote my life into science."
"Check this out." Alex said, dusting off a plank. She had found a little cranny in the cave covered by wood marked ELB.
"My initials. Just like in Journey To The Center of the Earth! That means the time machine must be right through this wall." Doc said.
Doc, Marty, and Alex chopped through, and found the DeLorean. Covered with a sheet inside.
Doc sighed. " It's been buried here for 70 years, 2 months, and 13 days. Astounding."
Marty was reading the letter out loud. Doc was staring with a magnifying glass at the time circuit control microchip.
"As you can see, the lightning bolt shorted out the time circuit control microchip. The attached she-she."
"Schematic." Alex helped.
"the Schematic diagram will allow you to build a replacement unit with the 1955 components, thus restoring the time machine to perfect working order." Marty finished.
"Unbelievable, that this piece of junk could be such a big problem. No wonder the circuit failed, it says Made in Japan." Doc said.
"What do you mean Doc? All the best stuff is made in Japan." Marty said.
"Unbelievable." Doc said.
They waked out of the cave near the cemetery. They loaded stuff onto Doc's trailer.
"You know, when I was a kid I always wanted to be a cowboy. Now, knowing I'll spend my future in the past it sounds like a wonderful way to spend my retirement years. It just occurred to me...since I end up in 1885 perhaps I'm now in the history books. I wonder...could I go to the library and look myself up in the old newspaper archives?"
"I dunno. You're the one whose always saying, you know, it's not good to know too much about your own destiny." Alex said.
"You're right. I know too much already. Better that I not attempt to uncover the circumstances of my own... future." Doc called out for his dog. "Copernicus! Come home, boy!"
"I'll get him." Alex said.
She came up on the dog, whining.
"Come on, let's go home, boy." Alex said.
He continued to whine.
"Whats wrong Copernicus?" Alex asked. He was whining in front of a tombstone. Alex flashed the flashlight on the tombstone. "MARTY!"
Marty came running over. "Whats wrong."
Alex pointed to the tombstone. Marty read it. "DOC! DOC COME HERE! QUICK!"
Doc ran out from the car, and saw Marty and Alex at the tombstone.
"Whats wrong kids. You look like you've seen a ghost." Doc said.
