Doc, Alex, and Marty were outside the moving train, somewhere in the countryside outside hill valley.
"Cmon!" Doc called out. "Gimme your hand!"
The three jumped on the train.
"Whoa!" Marty yelled.
Marty jumped on the top of another car, and helped Alex across.
"C'mon, let's go! Masks on!" Doc said.
They tied bandanas over their mouths, and climbed over a train car filled with logs into the engineers' car.
"Freeze!" Doc yelled.
The three of them were holding guns.
"Is this a holdup?" The engineer held up his hands.
"It's a science experiment! Stop the train before you hit the switch track up ahead." Doc said.
"Doc!" Marty held his hand up after doing something to the tracks.
Doc was pointing a gun at the engineer and his assistant giving them directions. "Uncouple the cars from the tender."
Marty climbed up into the train as it started to move. Doc blew the train whistle.
"I've wanted to do that my whole life!"
Alex laughed.
"What are these things anyway?" Marty asked, grabbing colored logs from the car, and carrying them to the train.
"My own version of Presto Logs. Compressed wood with anthracite dust chemically treated to make the fire burn hotter and longer. I use them in my forge. These three will light the fire sequentially, make the fire burn hotter, kick up the boiler pressure and make the train go faster." Doc explained.
Marty and Alex got into the DeLorean, which was hooked up to the front of the train. Doc was in the front of the train.
"Are the time circuits on?" Doc asked into the walkie-talkie.
"Check." Alex said.
"Input the destination time. October 27th, 1985, 11 AM." Doc said.
Marty punched the information into the keypad.
"We're cruising at a steady 25 miles an hour Doc." Marty said into the walkie-talkie.
"I'm throwing in the Presto Logs." Doc said, throwing the logs into the fire one by one. "The new gauge will show the boiler temperature." Inside the DeLorean Marty and Alex looked at the new device Doc had installed. "The color coding indicates when each log will fire. Green, yellow, and red. Each detonation will be accompanied by a sudden burst of acceleration. Hopefully we'll get up to 88 miles per hour before the needle hits two thousand."
"What happens at two thousand?" Alex asked.
"The whole motor will explode." Doc explained.
"Perfect." Alex said sarcastically.
"Hey Doc, we just hit 35!" Marty said.
"Okay, I'm coming aboard!" Doc began climbing to the front of the train, where the DeLorean and the locomotive are connected.
Marty, was staring at speedometer talking to himself. "Come on, come on."
"You better hold on to something, the yellow log's about to blow!!!" Alex screamed into the walkie-talkie.
There was a gigantic explosion.
"We just passed 40!" Marty said.
Alex swung the gull wing door, and shouted into the walkie-talkie while she openly looked at Doc. "We just passed 45, go for it!"
