Colby had been having a very rough time at home lately. His mother died two weeks ago, and his father had gotten addicted to drugs and alcohol. Colby was commonly abused, and he had no one there to help him, since his brother Gage had moved out a year prior to these events. Colby was told that if he told anyone what was going on, he'd end up just like his mother.

Tonight was the night Colby had planned on running away. He couldn't handle his father anymore, and he was sure he'd have a better life elsewhere, anywhere other than where his father was. His mother would never do anything to hurt the poor boy. She was the sweetest woman ever.

It was already quite late at night, 9:46 pm to be exact, and his father was supposed to be home from work at 6:00. It was summer break, so Colby hadn't been going to school. He knew his father wasn't coming home tonight, probably at some random whores house, drunk and high. He had all the time in the world to fuck some slut, and go to clubs, but didn't even have a minute to say "hello" to his son.

Colby had already packed his bags, so he was completely ready to go. He wasn't planning on telling his best friends, Sam and Dev, so they couldn't stop him. He walked out of his door, and god it felt good. To breathe fresh air, knowing that his father will never hurt him again.

Colby rushed down the stairs, and put his hood up, so it would be harder to identify him. Tonight he planned on sleeping at the park, because he could charge his phone overnight there, and it was a public place without a closing time, so he would not be escorted off the premises.

He walked at a faster pace than usual, in hopes he would make it out without anyone recognizing him. He didn't live extremely far from the park, but not very close either. So by the time his dad would get home from work at 6:00 the next day, his son would be long gone.

The brunette traveled for a while, but to him it only felt like a hour or so from all the adrenaline pumping through his veins. He smiled at the sight of the park, lightly lit up in the distance, just enough to see, but not enough to see every detail.

Colby decided he would sleep under the slide for the night, since it would be harder to notice he was there, he plugged his phone into the outlet next to him, and set an alarm for 5:00 am, so he could leave before anyone 'normal' would go to the park.

He laid out his blanket and pillow, and laid down. He wasn't very comfortable, but he knew he had to sleep, or he wouldn't have enough energy for his long journey.
